Although I prefer OEM, I have put plenty of aftermarket straps on my Lings and others. As it's been stateed, and good aftermarket vice cheap one can really look good. The Paneristi will tell you that strap variety is an obsession...

I think you should worry about what you like and not what other people (might) think! I have a Pro II, OR, and Croc all OEM, and I actually love them all, without any problems. With that said, I wouldn't be against trying (and wearing) an aftermarket strap.

Some aftermarket straps do cheapen a watch , but thats all a matter of opinion. I think Nato's cheapen a watch some people love them ,and will wear nothing but Nato's.. I have a Panerai ,and cant wait to get rid of the oem strap, will it cheapen my watch I don't think so, but some people may. The thing that matters most is if you like it!!!

Hi. I've been wondering about aftermarket straps too.

I saw this on the Breitling website (Breitling Bentley GT on a white strap) and loved the look of the white with silver.

The thing is I much prefer the Navitimer range to the Bentley range so it got me thinking... would a white dialled Navitimer look good with a hi-quality white leather strap or would it just look wrong/cheap...?

For the record I got a quote from Goldsmiths (AD) for ordering the Breitling GT Ice (as above). They said it would be £5.5k to buy the watch at the moment and could get one in for me to look at if I gave them a £100 (fully refundable) deposit.

I always favor OEM equipment and I would never go with an aftermarket strap, especially with the quality, comfort and versatility of Breitling straps.

But there are some very good non-OEM ones, so I do not think that they'll cheapen your watch. But a non-OEM strap on a prestige brand will always cry out.

So, finally, it's personal choice.

Put lipstick on a pig its still a pig put a cheap strap on your valued Super Avenger its still a Super Avenger. Its not as if your putting cheap low grade fuel in a high performance car, its a watch who cares what type of strap you put on it just as long as you like and find it comfortable.
