I experienced the same problem on my vintage Breitling after a Breitling refurb, i.e. the sweep hand skipping. I imagine in some aspects there must be similar mechanical arrangements across many different movements. My watch has a 7736 in it. Interestingly BUK did mention adjusting spring tension which resolved it.

That's interesting; thanks for sharing your story. I suppose it is possible that the spring really could be the culprit, I just find it strange that Breitling didn't mention this to me the last two times it was in the shop.

I'm happy to report that I received my Chronomat back from BUSA this morning. So far, the chronograph issue seems to have been fixed. Unfortunately, this was the case last time and it ended up showing the same problem a few days later. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for now . . .

Many people told me I should ask that the watch be sent back to Switzerland to be fixed. I was extremely close to doing so until I had a conversation with the master watchmaker at Govberg's. He advised that Breitling's description of the issue was legitimate (the mercedes spring being too lose) and that he'd seen a similar problem on another brand of watch a while back. He was also surprised that Breitling actually admitted the chronograph wheel was out of round the last time it was in. Given these two facts, he felt they were being honest with me and were trying to remedy the issue.

Thus, I decided to give BUSA one final chance. If this chronograph issue returns, the watchmaker said he personally wants to see the watch and will take the matter up with Breitling on my behalf. Note that this watch was not purchased from Govberg's, so I sincerely take my hat off to them for the incredible customer service they're willing to provide. The fact that my Navi 01 DID come from Govberg's probably didn't hurt, though.

I did get a "partial service" out of the deal, although I'm not sure exactly what that entails. The receipt just said "partial service" and new hands, which they have to put on anyway. The last time it was there it received a full service. In any case, it came back with a wonderful polishing job. It looks brand new.

Although I'm not happy that I had to send my watch back a third time, I cannot fault Breitling's customer service in any way. I called them several times on the phone over the past month and someone was always willing to tell me exactly where my watch was in the repair process. I know others have had bad experiences as of late, but I fortunately cannot say anything other than good things.

-Craig

Great news Craig, hope it all works out this time. As most folks will agree, the folks at Govberg go above and beyond. Dominic and George have helped me numerous times. Glad to hear you still have faith in BUSA as well.

That's terrific news Craig. :lingsrock:

I keep my fingers crossed for you, I know you've missed your B01.

Thanks, guys. It's been two days and the chronograph is still working properly, but I want to log some additional miles on it before I'm convinced it's fixed for good.

I indeed missed her.
