Well, if it's out of beat then a full wind won't necessarily start it...

Help me out, Roff - what does 'out of beat' mean?

Technically it means that the balance doesn't swing evenly in both directions - it rotates through more degrees one way than it does the other. In practical terms it means that there may not be enough impulse to start the watch just by winding it - the balance needs a 'nudge' to start up again. Rotating the watch through 360 degrees while looking at the dial will do that - so will shaking, but one imposes less stress than the other

Thanks, Roff. Once the watch is running again, should a full wind be enough to keep it running, assuming something else isn't wrong with it?

Yep,

In most circumstances it won't materially affect running time or accuracy.

Ok so I had a super avenger about 2 years ago. I first noticed my watch running slow. I have a physically active job which in no way should it do that. I then found the watch really slow if not stopped when I was waking up in the morning. Put it on the watch winder, wore it as usual and wound it. Still to no avail nothing seemed to work. Finally sent it back to Breitling. Mind you this was about a month and a half of ownership. It was over the holidays that I sent it back and finally got it back like 3 months later. It was in service longer then I owned it!. Kinda made me think as I thought this was gonna be a bullet proof watch! So after the return it worked perfectly. Then about a year later started moving slow again. Condensation built up in the watch. Checked my crown and all was screwed down. So miffed again sent it back as I was gonna sell the watch and didn't want it to be a problem with the new owner. So again sent it back to Breitling and they fixed it again didn't say what the problem was but worked fine. I was looking to get another watch anyway but seemed really strange for it to happen again! If its under warranty I would send it back. The gears in the watch may need changing..
