They are raising the prices to pay for there R/D unemployment for the the folks who approved the Skyracer raven in red hot red and aquaman orange. 5k for a Super Avenger? That is ridiculous , Ad's may just start giving 30 to 35% off list.

February 1st is what I'm hearing... SA's to $5100+... Tag just announced a 5% increase and a 5% reduction in dealer margin. :(

This may seem like a really obvious question but I have to ask.

Can someone explain how these price increases work? So if an AD has an SA sitting in a case right now, it will some how be worth 15% more in a few weeks? This sucks because I was thinking about buying a new watch in March. Is the increase in price for all models or just specific ones?

if a watch cost 5000 toady, and in a month the increast goes up to say 6k, the dealer should price it off of what they paud for it, whuch would be their discount off of 5k. some dealers wont do that, they will reprice the inventory, some wont, depends on your dealer.

you can bet for sure when he goes to replace it, it will be the higher price

this doesnt help the ad, their cost goes up the same percent, they dont want the increase either, they didnt make any mistake.

I really do not know what all the fuss is about?

They need to cover the additional cost of red/orange plastic bezels.

If you can afford a $4,000 watch, then paying $4,300 for the same watch shouldn't be a big deal.

IMO, buying luxury timepieces (which I do NOT think Breitlings are) follows the old addage.....if you have to ask how expensive it is, you probably shouldn't be buying it.

We should ALL expect costs to go up over time - and it's easy to get Breitlings for discounts in the 20-30% range here in the States, so I'm not going to complain. I like to save money as much as the next guy - but seriously - if I can afford a $5,000 watch, I'm not going to complain about a 10-15% increase in price every few years for something that I really want.

So following your logic I assume that the discount you receive from your AD isn't really that important to you either. Also, how do you figure that someone who asks about the price shouldn't be buying a watch? I think that there are a lot of people who save up over a period of time just to be able to purchase a watch that they really like...so to say that they can't afford it is wrong...and IMO an ignorant thing to say.

It would be unrealistic for people to think that Breitling would never increase their prices, but to me a 15% increase in an economy like this is a little steep. It would be easier to stomach if it were 5-7% each time instead of double digits.

Yeah, that old "adage" is nothing more than a sales technique, an attempt to shame or anger a buyer into paying list. It isn't an attempt to run off people, but to manipulate them.

It is arrogant and elitist (and plays on the psychology of the buyer). And for a potential buyer to cite it is just stupid, stupid, stupid.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way. He said the same thing the last time a discussion of price increases came up. I didn't understand it then, and I don't understand it now. Then again, it wouldn't be the first time he has emphatically insisted on something that didn't make a whole lot of sense. Go figure.
