When I first purchased my Chrono Cockpit it was + 5.5 seconds per day. After 1 month, it was down to + 2 sec per day and has remained at that level for the past 5 months.

I just received an Oris watch for Christmas. Out of the box it was running 6.5 seconds fast per day. The next day was 7.5 and today it is 8.5. I thought the breakin period usually slowed the watch down. It is probably too early though to make an accurate assessment.

I wonder how long do you have to own mechanical watches before you do not care about how well it keeps time (as long as it is within reason)

Ive only been been buying expensive watches for a few years, and I dont really care any more. Ill set it and get an idea of how accurate they are just to make sure they arent completely out of whack, but thats about it. I couldnt even tell you how accurate the past few ive bought are because I havent really bothered to check. I just know they are probably under 10 sec./ day.

We are all here participating in this forum because of an interest with watches for a variety of reasons. I enjoy mechanicals because of the technical aspects of how they are made, their many moving parts all leading to a high degree of accuracy even if they are out many seconds per day. Obviously this aspect does not interest you in the same way that I am not interested in the collecting aspect of the hobby like you are.

Although I am not a long term member like you Sharkman, I would say each member is entitled to solicit opinions germaine to their own particular horological interest without having to be concerned about negative comments from another breitling source member.

Now let’s be fair. It’s only self-deprecating humor that’s missing. I think it has something to do with sunlight deprivation.

Boy, the last time I missed a smiley caused an inter-continental crisis. The Indonesian Airforce was off the deck and headed to Arizona.

 Just re-read your "link" - I'm bad - and to think I wasted 15 minutes on my elaborate reply - (I could have been timing another watch!).

Apologies to Sharkman for being a bit "slow" tonight. We Canadians do have a sense of humour, eh! After all our flag is a maple leaf and our national animal is a beaver - and we are also are home to the Toronto Maple Leafs. We have produced some very funny commedians such as Rich Little, Eugene Levy, Rick Moranis, John Candy, and Dave Thomas, Howie Mandel, Tom Green, Mike Myers, Leslie Neilson, Caroline Rhea, David Steinberg and Tommie Chong (Cheech and Chong) - Just to name a few (phew!).

This is a great group :lingsrock: - sorry for my misinterpretation.

No worries, eh??? I'm 1/4 Canadian so my humor meter is a tad skewed.

But why did all the funny guys leave Canada. :nana:

Though I must admit, and in the interst of extending a maple branch to you and our Canadian Admin and Mod, Banff is my favorite place in the world.

Edit - tell the truth, you had to google "famous Canadian comdeians," eh?

I cannot tell a lie, I did google Canadian Commedians - but just to make a point that Canadians can have a sense of humor.

For all you I-Phone users the 'Atomic Clock' application is a good way to keep your watches synchronized.
