There is at least one other memeber here with the same dial as mine.

I would look at this every visit to the AD. Boy, I'm glad I finally made the decision. Just a great watch. Yeah it's pricier than standard Navi, but it's pretty low priced for a chronograph with a moon phase and 4 year calendar. It is a delightful dressier watch. I like the throwback bezel beading as well. And the lumed arabics round out the package nicely.

I give it an enthusiastic :lingsrock:

That really is a beauty sharkman! I'd seriously consider one but it's too similar to my 1903. I'm really back considering a skyracer again now 8)

Everytime I wear my Skyracer I'm reminded why I bought it. Great design and perfect size.

Just got mine about 8 months ago, and I'm glad I did. I just love the watch. Got the steel bracelet and the black croc strap.

I'm still thinking about this watch!

Most people seem to have the white/navy dial, is the white/black really that much less popular? I'm tempted to hold off on buying anything right now since everything is so bad financially right now, but this the the only really nice moonphase I've seen that's affordable for me... Does anyone know of any other nice moonphase watches of a similar size that's around the same price? I saw a JLC one recently that I quite liked, but it was equally as large and actually more expensive than this...

Wa7mm-- do you find you wear it on the bracelet or the strap more?

Ernst Benz makes a decent moon phase watch called chronolunar. Maurice Lacroix makes a nice one as well called masterpiece lune retrograde but its manual and more expensive. To find a 4 year perpetual calendar with this many complications at this price is very uncommon!

Longines makes one in 40mm, display back, retail around $3000 US I believe, see website below.

I looked at that longines a few times in person but it looks a bit too cramped in a 40mm case and i don't believe it's a perpetual movement. As anez said JLC makes a beautiful moon phase but it's about 10k. In my opinion, the Olympus' 4 year perpetual complication with moon phase, day, date, month, and 12 hour chrono should be a 12 k watch. It's highly under-appreciated and underpriced in my opinion.

If you just want the moonphase with chronograph, no calendar, there is always the Omega speedmaster moonphase, #3576.50 (?).

I think the perpetual calendars are very expensive(?). I believe 4 year and perpetual calendar are two different movements, with the 4 year having to be reset in leap years on Feb. 28/29 ?.

Having looked at both, I think I prefer the Longines to the Omega -- 40 would actually suit me better given my wrist size, I shall have to have a look at that when I'm in town next! Thank you, Kodiak. I've looked over the Longines counter a few times and never seen that one, so perhaps it doesn't make it to these shores very often? Not sure if I prefer it to the Breitling, will have to see it in person before I could say that.

According to the review in WatchTime, the Olympus does indeed have to be reset every four years and there's some problem with displaying Feb 29 as the date when it does crop up, but even perpetuals require resetting eventually. I've heard the Olympus referred to as a both a 4-year and a perpetual in the ADs, although 4 year is more accurate, I suppose.

Incidentally, if anyone had a few bob and was looking for a perpetual, you probably can't go wrong with the Chopard LUC Lunar One. I tried one on in London last week and it was a thing of sheer beauty I almost wept at having to leave behind. However, I suspect trying to raise the funds (£40k! GBP...) would have made me cry a lot more. :D

Mauirice Lacroix Phase de Lune Masterpiece is automatic and cost less in stainless steel than Navi Olympus.

Apparently they have a 38mm one which would suit even better--

It's obviously very different in style to the Olympus but is definitely worth looking at, cheers! I don't know anything about Lacroix, is it a decent brand?

Not so sure a fair comparison. The MLC has a day, month, date, but evidently is not even an annual calendar let alone a four year. It's not un unusual to have day, month, and moon phase complications and still have to reset the date at the end of every month with <31 days. PLUS the MLC, unlike the Olympus, is not a chronograph.

To be clear - the MB Olympus is NOT a perpetual calendar watch - it is a 4 year watch which is as close as you can get to perpetual. So one day every FOUR years you have to adjust the date.

They're a solid watch company and they produce models with in house movements...I believe they're in some of the masterpiece collection watches. They recently lost quite a few ADs in the US because sales have been way down. Their marketing strategy is pretty poor...hence the reason few people even know about them. None the less, they make a nice watch. Their masterpiece double retrograde is one of my favorite dress watches....I had a chance to buy it last year at 55% off because my AD stopped selling Maurice Lacroix...I passed...and have been kicking myself since.

Shark...I believe it's called a '4 year perpetual calendar' isn't it? Regardless of what it's called, the 4 year calendar is what sets the Olympus apart from all the other moon watches out there. There are so many complications packed into the Olympus which is why I feel it's highly under-priced.
