Thanks for the helpful advise folks! I've been told by my AD here in Ireland that the SA in Slate or Black Dial with SS Bracelet will take 6 months to order!!!! I will try some places in the UK in the hopes of getting immediate delivery. I'll keep this forum posted regarding which LING I end up going for and hopefully will be posting some pics of my lastest addition very soon. Thanks again to everyone for the helpful advise and comments!! :) :) :) :) :)

Try

www.authenticwatches.com

They have them in stock now and others here have dealt with them. You can't wait 6 months or you will do something you will regret like wimping out with a 3/4 Ling to hold you over.

If u r really looking for something big, yet not as big as the SA, then consider the Monty Legende. the one with 2 tone bracelet is a master piece.

Hi folks!

Just wondering if i can get some opinions on what to opt for next. I currently have a Navitimer on Black Dial SS bracelet and absolutely love this piece. However, I have been bitten by the Breitling bug and want to go for another piece! (I know i'm not alone here! :) ) Can anyone advise which model i should consider? I would love something in the same colour with maybe polished SS this time. Also something a little bigger/heavier would be welcome.

Anyone got any ideas??? Thanks in advance :)

You need to own a FULL LING.

Perhaps the Avenger Skyland with leather/croc band OR I would probably go with the Chronomat...

Couldn't agree more with the Doc :D
I've got my new one arriving anyday now, although I'm going for a white face.

Excellent choice ;)

Interesting thread.....my experience mirrors the advice you all are giving. I started out early this year with the purchase of a White Chrono Avenger - neat watch....and I love it. I especially love the White with Titanium - very cool look. About 1 month later - I saw the Super Avenger - wow. So I picked up a Super Avenger in Blue. Does that mean I wear the SA all the time? No....I wear it a couple of days - and then look at the CA in the winder...and it calls to me to wear it for a few days. What I am noticing - I don't over extend on either watch. BTW, I wear my Luminox F117 Nighthawk to bed (so I can see the dial at night- over 50 you know!) but next morning I look forward to putting on a Breitling. My advice - go try on the Super Avenger - a GREAT pick, it will call to you....and then wear it proudly. Terry :D

I gotta agree. DEF try on the watch and even if you think a particular watch is too big etc still try it on. The same thing happened to me...I ended up going much bigger :)

Avenger Skyland!!! Not as big as SA, but shiny if you want, or if you want an Ocean Racer or Diver Pro strap, also looks great. I just happen to think it is one of the best-looking watches for guys on the planet. I have a Blacksteel, which I love, and am actually considering getting a stainless with Ocean Racer strap at some point as well. The aesthetics of this watch are amazing! I also think it is very hard to beat as far as "bang for buck" goes, although I will admit that can also be said about the SA.
Happy hunting! I almost find it's a bit of a letdown when I make my decision, the shopping around is great fun to me. I used to shop around for automobiles, now I shop around for watches!
Cheers,
Carl

6 months is unfortunately not unusual. However, it can pay off to look around at other AD's - someone might be able to help you.

I think the worst thing you can do is try to settle for less. It will only cause that you spend a chunk of money on something you'll replace as soon as possible. Better to go for the desired one, even if it means waiting.

You know, I am in the same boat as you. I am not sure on which Ling to grab next. Was looking at interwatches.com and was looking to pick up a Super Avenger with black dial but now it is out of stock as it is not on their page. Now I was thinking of maybe a Bentley 6.75. Should I cough up some extra cash and just pick up a 6.75? I have never tried on the 6.75 so I do not know how it will look on my wrist. I did go to the AD and they tried on the SA in white dial and liked the watch but really wanted it in black since I already have a white dial EVO and want a bit of contrast. How thick is the 6.75? Is it as deep as a SA? Anyone like to take some comparison shots of both watches thickness? As they are both 48mm watches. Thanks in advance.

Hello there gips30,

I have both the SA and the 6.75 but no pics of comparing heights. There are some pics in my gallery (follow the link in the signature), but I'm not sure you'll totally see the difference there. The SA is 3 mm thicker than the 6.75 and even if that is not much, it really wears like a big difference. If you like the size but think the SA might be too "chunky", the 6.75 could be a good alternative. If you like the chunkiness of the SA, you'll probably think the 6.75 is a bit "flat". However, I absolutely recommend you visit an AD and try the 6.75 on too before making any decisions.

:yeahthat My Motors is the same size as the 6.75 and I totally agree that it "wears" very differently to my SA. The lug to lug size on the SA is significantly more than the Bentley, so that makes the SA seem like much the bigger watch.

Both are excellent but very different in their own ways. You can't go wrong either way, but as Aleister rightly said - Try Before You Buy!

Thank you for the quick response. I will most likely wait and grab a black dial SA when possible.

Good choice! But unless you can snare one on-line or in a shiop window, you'll have a fair old wait. 5 to 6 months, last I heard. :(
