It's real, and Breitling doesn't release production numbers for models.

Any idea where to get estimates? I read somewhere that looking at the number of watches COSC certifies is a good range?

COSC publishes the number of movements that are submitted for certification each year, and that's a good indicator of the number of Breitling's produced (as they are all sent for certification), but it won't tell you how many of a certain model.

Roff. Any idea where i can find out what movement (ETA-xxx) that my mark vi is based off of? I was under the impression that breitling took vanilla movements from other companies and modified them before putting in their bodies. thanks.

It's Breitling 26B, which is based on ETA 2892-A2 - http://www.breitlingsource.com/details/B26B.html

All Breitling movements are chronometers - you should have received a COSC Certificate. Contact your AD. If they can't find it they can have a new one ordered (I think). Not having one can decrease the resale value to some degree. Personally it wouldn't matter to me when buying a used watch so long as it has the warranty book. But it matters to some.

As to your movement question, see this link - viewtopic.php?f=1&t=15774&p=120060&hilit=ebauche+to+caliber#p120060. This was my first or second post after buying my fist "real" watches - a couple SOCs and a Steelfish - and contains some good explanations of what Breitling gets from ETA - not as much as you may think - and what they do to make it their own caliber.

There just isnt much in the way of reviews or even pictures. I am a proponent of buying used, so needless to say there arent many that pass through that market.

Until then....I will be enjoying the pics

Do you have any idea what the production numbers are for these models?

Here's a pic of me wearing it. I'll get some more without that grubby wrist later :)

I hope this is a real one :)

I love this watch and have been thinking of trading in my Motors T for one. I'm wearing mine less and less because of the size.

You are right, there are may e-tailers selling it at a big discount. I think it's the only way I'd buy one.

Go for it. join the club! i need more pics of this watch from real people. haha. I love the way it handles the sporty ( knurled bezel), luxury (mother of pearl inlays), with the unique rectangular totalizer in the middle, and the subtle rounded shape and start/stop chrono knobs. love it.
if you dont mind the burnt oak or blue dials, you can find some amazing deals online. prolly much better than what I paid for mine.

I contacted the ad in Europe and they were able to send me the cosec cert in a few days. Awesome. Very happy.

I purchased a Mark VI about a year ago. It's a great watch. I typically wear it for dressy occasions. I purchased a used 6.75 with a blue dial for casual occasions. Heck, I almost paid as much for a used 6.75 as I did a new Mark VI.
