I would not have expected Goldsmith to do that but what a great gesture. Not enough people in the UK compalin about poor service.

If I was going to get a Colt Chrono then that is the colour scheme I would get. By the way your white balance is off on the photos. You need a different setting on the camera or software that does colour correction. I have taken your first pic and corrected it as an example.

Three or four weeks passed, and my repair quote arrived and boy way I in for a shock!!! Apparently it needs a 'Full service including refurb of case and bracelet replacement of water seals hands and quality control' at a cost of £430!!! :wowzers (not sure why it needs hands!?? )

I contacted goldsmiths and moaned, and the lady said she would get on contact with Breitling and query the cost. She called me back later that day and that "as a good will gesture, Breitling will do the repair for £380".

Did they told you what happend ?

ooops  , was playing with the camera and shot in raw, sort of forgot about the white balance - assumed the yellow colour was how it was lit. edited links :) .

Not in great detail, but basically it seems that the initial quote used a standard cost for a different brand of watch, and I'm guessing the service dept lady tried to hide the mistake by saying Breitling would do the repair cheaper as a goodwill gesture etc (although that's my personal opinion) - after they offered to foot the bill I didn't really push it any further.
