CometMan, I'll bet you a dollar that once you have an SA for a while you'll look at your BB and still love it, but think... wouldn't it be nice if it was a little bigger. :D I had a 39mm Tag, but when my BB arrived I knew a small watch was no longer for me. 44mm was cool (and still is) but when I got my SA :lingsrock: If I could change my BB the only thing I would do is make it 46mm. But ya know, even if I had the chance to push that magic button I'm not sure if I would because having both 44mm & 48mm works great for me.

i already think exactly like you, sometimes i look to the BB on the wrist and wish it could have 2 or 3mm more.. it would be perfect, dont get that impression when i see it laying on the table or in pictures but on the wrist the dial seems a litle small, in the first week i was showing to friends and they told me "...the watch is simply just beautifull...but tought it was a bit bigger..." lets see what they say about a SA... hate to see a ti superquartz CA M1 go but i just love the detail of the dial of the SA

1 question to the SA owners, can anyone tell me what is the size of the dial of the SA? i noticed it has a thicker bezel but the dial is larger than other caliber13 chronomats evolution, but what is the size of the glass of the SA?

I was in the same boat, but was worried about my shrimpy wrists and a SOH. I had heard tales of the amazing shrinking Breitling, but I never believed it. I told myself....."That will look crazy", and "that is just too loud"

Sure enough.....I think the size is on the spot, and I could even probably convince myself to try a SA myself one day.

Make the move and make it happen

damn that was the picture i was looking for 2/3 days i knew i saw it somewhere...a blackbird along side a SA

only 35mm of glass?? the blackbird is around 32mm... the viewable are is about the same

the overall watch size must make somekind of ilusion the viewable area is a lot bigger

Think of it this way....

Obviously there is a huge difference in case size side by side, but the measurement is only about four and a half mm.... and 3mm of that is glass. So I don't think there really has to be an illusion, 3mm is actually quite a bit.

If I had your wrist size, I´de already be a happy owner of the white dial SS SA. But with my 6 1/5 wrists I´ll just have to settle on admiring that beauty from a far. :(

Sorry to go a bit off topic: I cannot admire enough the CSO: "normal" size w/42 mm, day-date, good wr, screw-down pushers. Perfect all-rounder, except only for the contrasting sub-dials (no all-dark dial yet).

Best, Robert

So much depends on what you personally consider to look ridiculous. A lot about wearing large watches is your own attitude and belief in whether you can carry it off or not.

My own stance on large watches is that provided the lugs don't overhang the side of your wrists then it generally looks OK. But that's just my opinion. There are those out there who think that anything larger than a Submariner is somehow part of the big watch "craze", so its all down to personal preference and what you believe looks good on you.

Basically if you think a watch looks too big on you, then it's too big..... for you. Ultimately you have to wear the thing and if you are in any way unsure that looks OK, you won't wear it much, I guarantee.

BUT having said all that, then purely by the numbers, a 7.25" wrist should be able to accomodate an SA just fine.

Perfect post, exactly the way I feel about it. As long as the lugs don't stick out beyond the radius of the wrist, everything else is just personal style.

The only thing I have to add is that for a variety of reasons, two watches with the same dimensions "on paper" will often look and feel like two different sizes. Proportions of case/lugs/bezel/dial can make huge differences.

Peace

Mike
