I used it a couple of times on my first Navi World (which was my first Navi) just to understand how it worked........ and then never used it since.......... and I'm pretty sure I've now forgotten how it works too!

Every day at work when I fly, mainly for fuel consumption rates. When I'm at home, every other day for converting miles per hr to nautical miles per hour, to km/hr for boating. Quicker & easier than the computer or iphone. But you have to be used to using it. Once its intuitive for you, you could never be without it.
cheers

If I had one I could use it to convert km to miles when I watch tennis on TV. Then I'd know how fast that last serve was. It'd be like an instrument for a professional couch potato.

I don't use it much anymore. I used it a lot to compute ground speed when crossing VOR transmitters because the old LORAN was flagged a lot from poor signal reception. Since the new administration, in its infinite wisdom, pulled the plug on the LORAN transmitters in the north american grid, I was forced to replace the LORAN receiver with a GPS. The GPS tracks ground speed continuously, so I can sit back and look for converging traffic while enjoying the view out the cockpit windscreen. :)
