Let's not kid ourselves though - Breitling might not be authorising Costco (or any other grey market store) to sell Breitlings, but they aren't doing much to try and restrict the grey market either.

Costco is not an AD for any watch so they give a lifetime warranty. From my experience they just give you your money back. Costco rocks.

They do offer a warranty on the pieces they sell, but you can just as easily get a complete refund within two years, no questions asked (assuming you haven't already done so on a previous watch). The issue comes in if you actually want the watch serviced, rather than replaced. If it's a discontinued model, like an Evo, you might well want to keep it and have it worked on. Then, like Roff says, you're looking at generic work if you want it done under Costco's warranty. If you want Breitling service, you're looking at paying out of pocket.

I have to admit that before I became a member on forums like Watchuseek and Breitlingsource, I was totally unaware that you could negotiate on price for a watch, especially a high street store.

I've had non-WIS mates who have bought luxury watches for full RRP for the same reason above. My brother-in-law bought a TAG from The TAG boutique in Westfield for RRP in January and was chuffed he got a free cap...until I told him about a missed 10-20% discount.

So I'm guessing there are alot of people still out there, unaware that you can negotiate the price on watches like these.

Bingo!!!! you could wear that thing for years and they'd take it back is something went wrong.

I purchased my first Breitling at Costco last summer. It was a Chrono Cockpit on a pilot bracelet and started out almost 8 months earlier at $4,999.00 (Retail value $6,250). I watched it go down to $3,999. then to $2,999. and then bought it the day it went down to $1,999.00. Came with box, papers and serial number intact. I was told it could be returned any time (lifetime) for what I paid for it. If it needed repairs in the first two years then they would send it for an estimate and would either pay for the repair or refund the money. Now that was a sweet deal! This was my first luxury watch and I still love it and it has spured on other purchases.

Even though Costco is not an AD, I don't think you can go too far wrong by purchasing from them.

I was told something different. The return department told me they would accept it back for a full refund within the first two years, no questions asked. After two years, they would want to know the reason(s) for the return, and would make a case-by-case determination of whether or not they would accept the return, dependent in part on whether or not they could get money back from the dealer who sold it to them. Also, they check your return history. If you have a pattern of buying and returning watches or jewelry, they could use that as grounds to refuse the return, even within the two-year period. I got this directly from the manager in charge of approving returns, for whatever that's worth.

Last time I purchased a watch from Costco (and subsequently retuned it) they actually provided me with a paper outling their return policy. You may want to see if you can get something in writing.
