Im not surprised, just because you can sell a great watch doesnt mean that you can understand what they mean to us.

Funny story and absolutely ridiculous behaviour from the AD. Sadly this seems to be a recurring theme in this economic climate.

My first impression was be to suggest getting even with them in som way like a lot of responses, naturally really when you're dealing with an idiot, but when I take a moment I know that, strange as it must seem, he was doing the best he could and there's really no value in responding to ignorance with anger. Walking out would have been a good approach.

Good luck with the postage :D

Had to deal with again yesterday. I stopped by the AD and see the Black eyed blue Blackbird which they said was in stock (it's not to be released for another month) and they were trying to show me a B01 which they thought was a Blackbird. I had to explain the watch line up and using their book...not the first time I've had to do this at an AD...so sad.

The Blackeye Blue Blackbird is already released, and it's in stock at a local AD here. I've already seen it, it looks nice, but it kinda defeats the name (Blackbird). I still prefer the all-black dial with brushed case on black Ocean Racer rubber strap.

What you perhaps meant about soon to be released is the Blackbird BlackSteel (?)

According to a few AD here in th US, it is to be released in a few weeks and not available yet. I am calling George this week to get to the bottom of this. I'm assuming he really knows his s**t. I can only go off of what I am told.

It's not a matter of meaning, it's a matter of fact. COSC certification is a guarantee of timekeeping within a tolerance of -4 to +6 seconds a day. Either these dopes know and understand this fact, or they don't. It's pretty obvious that these fellas should care a bit more about the service they give to their customers.

What a cool written talking along story !!!!!
I could just hear the conversation . . . . and it was a great mini visual to me.

When I went to my first jewelry store (just a last few months ago) to look at Blings' I was cornered by 3 young ladies that could tell me the price and little more. The owner was on the cell phone looking at me. I do not own a cell phone. I freaked and left. They did not have the precise model I wanted anyway. That just gave me more time to research for the right Breitling I really want . . . . . which always ends up being the same and is a older model (2009).

And this is why I buy used/grey market. There is absolutely no value in 90% of ADs.

The last time I was at an AD in Chicago, I was being helped my a lady and there was the manager and a new salesperson behind her, and the manager was training this new salesperson on what a quartz watch is and what a mechanical watch was.

The PC crowd would say they need re-training, I know what I'm thinkinig

Haha

Salesmen say the damnedest things. As a guy who always feels the need to research everything extensively, I don't get people who work for a high-end watch retailer and don't know the first thing about watches. Even worse are the ADs who hire such people and don't feel the need to train them in the least.

For example, I've been to a boutique that was not super high-end, but they did have Breitling, Rolex and Omega. Neither of the 2 saleswomen appeared to know what they were talking about.

While trying on some Lings...
Me : I'd like to see the Breitling catalog with all the watch specs. I think it's called the Chronolog.
Her : Uh... I'm sorry, I don't think we have that.
Me : Are you sure? You've got to have it somewhere. It's a pretty important thing for you to have.
Her : Ah... hmm... what information are you looking for exactly?
Me : Well, I'd really like to see the list of specs. You know, the movement, water resistance, power reserve and so on.
Her : Hmm... power reserve? That would be for a watch with batteries.

:x !!!

I did end up purchasing their Super Avenger white batons. As expected, the discount they agreed to give me was almost insultingly horrible (something like 2%), but it was in the Bahamas so MSRP was only $3200 (without bracelet...)

Whatever.

Ok, got the call and picked up the watch this afternoon. I paid $30 for the shipping. Much better experience this time around.
