I support this idea too.. I dont trust sellers who have a short history on the site..

While I completely understand peoples requests for a minimum post count (or minimum membership period), I have to say I fully agree with Roff on this.

We just have to assume a certain level of intelligence here, and by that I mean that no-one in their right mind should EVER purchase from someone with a single post to his name, no references, and no pictures of the item. Personally I don't have a problem with people showing up and posting a one-line ad and then wondering why they don't get any takers. In fact I find it quite entertaining. By implementing a minimum post count, it will just mean that people make 15 posts of rubbish (the 'me too' posts that Roff spoke about) and THEN make their post.

I guess the rule of thumb when buying on here is the same as buying anywhere else - do your research, get as much info as poss, and take all the precautions you can.

What do people think about the ethics of requesting pictures from someone who refuses to post them and then posting them here themselves?

I don't see why that's a problem. Once they've sent you the pics, you're free to do with them as you please unless they've copyrighted them.

IMO, generally speaking, some sellers don't want to post pics because they either don't know how, don't want to take the time to learn how, or don't have the means to post them.

I would suggest checking with the seller first, and respecting any wish they may have to hide serial numbers in publicly visible shots, but otherwise I don't see a problem. As kstone suggested I suspect in most cases people are unable to attach photos or don't want to open a photobucket or similar account.
