Hi maverick,
I have a black SOHC and a 11610 sub that I just purchased.
The sub is a totally different watch. Most obviously it is smaller. Thats a good thing. Wearing a 46 mm is nice for some situations, a 40mm is nice for others. The 46 mm does not make ANY of my other watches look like a ladies watch..

Asking Breitling fanatics like myself for advice is really difficult.. You will get all sorts of opionions in all sorts of tones... Calling the sub 'crap' is utterly ridiculas..because its not... thats just someones opionion. The sub is a classic which has left its mark on watch design.. The SOH has likenesses certainly borrowed from the sub design... Thats my opionion anyways.

I got the sub because I love the design and dont think its like the 46 SOH at all.
You have to decide which you prefer. If you sell later you will get more cash return for your sub...less for the SOH... you can see that in the second hand market.. Used subs in really good condition sell quick. And dont forget, If a new sub is released, then the older sub will be a colectors watch much like the B! when the Airwolf was released.

Lastly,
Reading the responses to your mail, I was taken by the negitive reaction twards Rolex in general. Maybe I have misread or misunderstood but it leaves me thinking...
On other non Breitling forums that I visit, I never come across
this type of reaction twards Breitlings... Why I ask myself???
good luck with your choice,
pete

thanks all for your advice and opinions, the negative reaction to this trade was to be expected as i am in a B forum, however im still leaning towards the Sub, as for the size issue, i have a 38 mm tag and that feels fine on my wrist even if i wear it directly after my SOH or Pam 112, plus when ever i see them they dont look small on other peoples wrist.

also the lack of date is not a trade off as i can afford the date version but dont like the cyclops and after the recent purchase of my Pam 112 i love the lack of a date window

i also know about the clasp issue on the Sub, its a clasp that has lasted with rolex for years and with little problem, (the sub also looks incredible on a Nato strap to be fair) however i will say that the SOH rubber strap has the nicest clasp on any watch i have seen!

i would say that if i had the cash to keep the SOH and get the Sub i would, and i may still change my mind, but the Sub feels like to more versatile watch.

I have nothing against Rolex whatsoever. Hence the reason I actually went to the store to check them out. The sub certainly has it design merits and nice in-house movement, but the overall construction of it if completely inferior to anything even close to its price class. However, the new models can hold their own nicely.

It is what it is and I see it as honest, nothing more. My next watch will be neither a Breitling or Rolex, probably a Ball, and it really doesn't matter what anyone thinks about that... but if I ask a question I'd anticipate hearing many opinions.

To me they are still just watches and I'm certainly not going to get offended what anyone thinks. For the record I'd like to have a Rolex, it's just I'd rather something different in that price range, or maybe even two or three watches.

It's all good Pete, it's just about enjoying what you do have.

PS..... :lingsrock: :lingsrock: :D
