For me, its full Ling or perhaps and OR or new Dive Pro II. The leather strap I have on deployant is much less comfortable than my Diver Pro I on tang. I don't like the "flatness" of the leather deployant although it is much easier to put on. It also looks better. IMO it does not wear better. Many choices, many watches, many combos. You will find one that "fits" your watch, but don't expect the same strap / bracelet to be the best fit for all watches.

Thanks, everyone, for their input so far. I was not expecting such differing opinions (and adament ones, at that  ). Everyone seems to have very valid points. Crap :( , and I am also guessing that I could not "test drive" the deployment given the custom fit/sizing, right?

Timebandit's input is interesting. What are the differences in stap types in terms of my questions? I am thinking of the standard leather strap, not the croc (too shiny/dressy for me), as well am thinking of a CSO (black face with black leather strap) if that has any bearing on this issue. I am less concerned over cost and more concerned about comfort, both short term and long term. I do like how the deployment hugs the wrist, as this works well on the steel bracelet I have on my Colt, but the steel is flexible and moves at each link, whereas the deploy on the leather would seem to make the leather more rigid like.

Any more input to make this decision "easier?

Thanks!

just fitted a leather stap to my chrono colt (see poor pictures in gallery 'new boots') went with a tang but thought very hard about a deployment. fits great but has already marked where it goes through the buckle but i can live with this. Have to say fitting the leather strap has completely changed the watch, looks great when in casuals and has recieved more comments than when i had the steel on.
