personally speaking, I dont intend to keep any watch for more than a few years after discontinuation, (vintage aside) as I like to keep up with trends.
Call me shallow if you want but hey, thats me! :D

Wow, that's a surprising way of buying and owning watches. Sure I've gone through quite a few over the years but I've never sold a single one just because it's a discontinued model.

And besides surely all watches become vintage after a while.....

Still, each to their own I guess!

I think that my 2009 (non-starburst) Airwolf will age pretty well, style-wise. I think the starburst look is going to age MUCH faster. The Co-Pilot look, I'm not so sure about, but hopefully it'll do the same.

Now, I'm anticipating my TT Chronomat w/bracelet is going to be one of the more timeless pieces out there. Don't really think anything about it, other than the size, is "trendy" at all, and I think it will look great for generations.

Maybe this is Breitling's new design policy. Design a watch which will look dated in a couple of years so you'll buy a new one!

Perhaps it has something to do with when I first took a serious interest in Breitlings but I much prefer the model range from 10 years ago to the current styles.

Or maybe I'm just getting old!

That must explain the design of the B01 bezel. It came dated right out of the box! And this is coming from a guy who has one!

Which I hope is a long time yet. :D

I personally wouldn't use the phrase 'looks dated' but I think Iunderstand what you mean......you desire a watch and the excitement is unbridled when you finally get it but sometimes this wears off with time.
Other watches then take your eye and the hunger to obtain one begins again, even if you don't manage to make another purchase you may not feel the same about your other watch, the novelty has worn off a little, maybe.

Cars look dated after a few years, so do clothes, haircuts, restaurants, tv's, bikes, movies and loads of other stuff but not Breitlings.
Mike

Unless it is due to a romantic evening with this...

I think the watch is evolving into a cell phone... Most youngsters have a phone and use it as there main timekeeper. Both my boys (18 & 21) simply won't wear one because it's really not "in" for them.

Same with my kids...But I am planning on buying my youngest son a Breitling when he graduates from Paris Island :lingsrock:

No, that looks like the Crosswind that was discontinued in 2004.

Sorry if I was a bit fuzzy. I meant there haven't been any new editions since 2004.

agree with a lot of whats been said.

most of mine are navi based and as such i think are timeless.

the B1 will date only if LCD tech goes any further for watches but it is one that i love NOW but i am not attached to if it does become one that I dont like.

The Emergency i bought for its feature, if it is replaced by something newer that does the same job and i felt mine was dated or technically obsolete id trade it in but i LOVE the watch.

as for youngsters not being interested i disagree im 28 so again not much older than your kids, i have always liked watches albeit digital when i was a kid even though i loved my dads 806 but i only bought my first decent watch (my datora) at 26 whne i could afford what i wanted, from 18-26 i wore a cartier santos my dad gave me and i still have (1975ish model) and that still represents the current santos although its very small (size of current ladies ones id say)
