He drives a Camry?? A @&%!*@$ CAMRY?!?!?" Fortunately for her, the fact that I have a Camry with a V6 means that she will at least get a severance package. If it was 4 cylinder, they would have just taken her out behind the building and put a bullet in the back of her head.

Archie, thanks to you, another social injustice has been righted!

Kstone,

Now that things have changed in your job situation, care to sell that Navitimer World? Heck we can work out a deal for both if you would like.

Archie's theory poses some real problems for me that I will have to address immediately.

At work, we have two job titles for admins - "Administrative Assistant" and "Executive Administrative Assistant." Whether or not you are an Exec Admin is solely determined by the level of the individual that you support. For Admins, the salary for their grade is capped at $65k. For Exec Admins, the salary for their grade is capped at $110k.

My assistant's title is "Executive Administrative Assistant." But, I drive a 2003 Toyota Camry. According to Archie, my Camry is neither an "Executive" car, nor a "Junior Exec" car. In fact, my Camry is perhaps even too lowly for a salesperson or a real estate agent! Oh the horror!!

So, I'm going to call human resources this morning to get this all straightened out. Clearly, my Exec Admin Assistant needs a grade and title change, and perhaps even a $70k-$80k paycut.

Archie, since I drive a Camry, do you suggest that I change her title to simply "Secretary"? Geez, even that might be overstating her status as well as mine. How about these suggestions: Clerk? Serf? Plebian? Slave? Let me know which one best fits your social heirarchy theory.

That is, without question, the funniest post here in at least 3 months. Probably a lot longer, but my medium term memory while drinking is terrible!!

Oh dear Archie........

Judging by the responses so far you've clearly won over the masses.......I never cease to be amazed by your complete inability to grasp the mood of the nations. Maybe it's an Australian thing, but I doubt it, maybe it's a lack of humility and compassion for those in the "Not as Good as Archie" category, possibly, maybe, just maybe Archie, it's because sometimes you do come across as a bit of a nob, sorry snob.

That said, as ignorant as I find most of your comments to be, they do amuse me and I wouldn't like you to stop posting - cos when you're having a bad day, feeling wretched and at a low ebb you suddenly realise that things could be a lot worse - you could be Archie42 (is the 42 an IQ thing?)

Anyway gotta go - Got to post £770 of Louis Vuitton Soap powder over to some mug in Oz

I dont think I can add much really but here it goes...My gf's father has always liked nice cars and expensive watches. Especially Breitlings. To him a watch is mans only jewelry. So When he bought his first Ferrari the salesman told him about Panerai making a Ferrari PAM. He also has always liked Panerai and was in need of a new watch so he figured kind of a cool idea just like people wear clothes with the car company on them why not a watch that has the logo on it and it was a PAM at that. Then when he sold his Ferrari and bought his Bentley '08gtc he needed another watch because he gave the pam to his son because he too has always liked Ferrari and panerai. So he then was told about the B4b line of watches. He said he actually was turned on to the watch not because it was the Bentley symbol on it but because of the size the high polish and big date on the 6.75 model that he bought and the first bronze dialed watch he had seen! I then saw the watch over two years ago and decided I wanted one not because of wanting to own a Bentley(which I wouldnt mind) but because the high polish the size the eye catching appearance of it. I guess the point of my story is that WE BUY THEM BECAUSE WE LIKE THEM!

Or some people just like the look of the watch and the bentley part has nothing to do with it :lingsrock:

I'm 22 years old and I cannot afford a Bentley. However, I do have a Breitling. Why? Because I fell in love with the model and that's the only reason. I don't see myself buying a Bentley any time soon or ever for that matter because I'm not attracted to the car.

My father does own a Bentley and he doesn't have a Breitling, he wears Hublot. I just think there are various people and I hope everyone chooses their Breitling because they like/love the model and not because they own a Bentley.

Having just purchased a "B for B" in the last month, I can tell you the affiliation with the car company was a total non-factor. I wanted a white dial Breitling, and this was one that spoke to me. If anything, I was a little reluctant because I recognize that I'm paying a little more for that co-brand. But, in the end, it's a piece of jewelry. If I just wanted to tell the time, I would have bought a digital Timex. Anyone who judges me solely by what's printed on my watch, or what vehicle I drive (a 2004 Ford truck) has missed an opportunity to get to know me -- for better or for worse

Incidentally, I was wearing a Sesame Street t-shirt and a $15 pair of jeans when I bought the watch. Had the jeweler applied your social status logic, they wouldn't have let me in the door.

 Archie, you are incredible! As I was reading your post I knew a bloodbath would follow in the replies beneath your message. You managed to offend Bentley owners, non-Bentley owners, BMW owners, the "executive" series car owners, B for B wearers, executives, non execs, junior execs, salesmen, real estates agents, and let's not forget regular Breitling owners (what with their over-priced generic parts, that rely on a mix of past reputation, and clever marketing) spanning at least three continents over two hemispheres. The greatest thing about it is that this group of people are normally among the friendliest, and most easy-going forum members on the internet. So drive your "less than 10 year old" Bentley home, kick off the Armani shoes, sit back in your $26,000 egg chair, gaze lovingly at your huge collection of LV bags (second-hand by the way?! Bad form, I thought you were better than that!), designer jewelry, Rolexs, Breitlings, Pateks, (and your box of soap powder) and know that you, my good man, have truly arrived! And also know, that for all the grief you get here, it would certainly be a lot less interesting without you!!!!!

It was once said that no greatness can exist without a nemesis.
Archie42: Thank you for the greatness you have allowed here on Breitlingsource, for you truly are the nemesis. I very much enjoy your posts and the vitriol they spawn.
With respect to the original post. I could buy a Bentley if I were so inclined, I guess. But the problem I have with them is the same problem I have with Rolexes (by and large, exceptions exist, but again I speak in generalities), they are what those who have no great knowledge of the specifics of the device buy (at least over in the states) when they want to show off. That, and they are just too damn slow!!!! 8)

I kinda disagree Bonedoc. My gf's father sold a 400,000 Ferrari to buy a 250,000 Bentely because it is a car that can be driven a lot more. The Ferrari is a racecar more or less. He bought the Bentley because of the kind of timeless look, classy look, old money look. He gets more compliments on the Bentely than the Ferrari and he bought it because the look and how it drives soft, smooth oh ya and v12 twin turbo its def not slow. Anyways not trying to argue just stating that he could have bought a 1,500,000$ bugatti veyron but he didnt because he truely loved this car not because he just wanted an expensive car and had money to buy. (I do agree with your Rolex comment though)

My initial response to Archie's view of the world was "oh go f*ck yourself Archie" as I still recall his pics of his "posessions" displayed in his living room, including a collection of designer purses, and his latest "wife" who he proclaimed a keeper. Clearly here is a man that lives to "possess" and "display", and his past posts have proven that he has some "Bentley Envy", therefore to comfort himself he must try to knock us down a notch. Give it your best shot Archie, reinforce your own ego by belittleing good people on this forum.

Oh the shame I feel for owning a Bentley Motors watch, which I bought to remember a trip to Italy where my wife and I created memories that will last forever. The best looking watch I've ever seen. How will I sleep tonight knowing that I will never own a real Bentley, not because I can't, but because I will find ways to spend my money that enrich more than my own life, that will create family memories, and educate my child. I'll comfort myself by thinking of the full life I live, my house in the country, my poor Touareg, my wife and baby girl. I wish I was "rich" enough to own a Bentley so Archie would respect me

By the way Archie, when I was in Venice, some of the street vendors had some nice purses to add to your collection, they even looked real.
