New user here... I have been sporting a relatively cheap Pulsar that I was given a few years ago while still at university. I've since started work in the 'real world', and am about ready to put the days of hiding my watch under my shirt cuffs behind me. So it's my 26th birthday next month and I want to buy myself a birthday present. I know it has to be a Breitling, I've known that since the first time I walked past that stunning yellow display case in my local watch shop in awe, and the hundreds of times I have stood and admired the watches surrounded by model planes since.

I'm pretty set on the style I want, not too adventurous so it's the typical black dial, dark subdials at 12/9/6, & steel bracelet (probably Pro 2), though I can't decide between the Chronomat (Evolution), Super Avenger, Avenger Skyland, or other 'similar' looks. It will be my only "nice" watch so it will need to go well with a suit day-to-day and in more casual weekend situations, I just haven't had the bottle to go into an AD and try them on yet. I would really like to go and try some different pieces on this week, make a decision, and buy via the group buy, if you will let me join the club. I know that In2Deep is probably reading this so am wary of Rule 9 given that I've just joined, so I would greatly appreciate a PM as and when you think I'm ready (I will send you a PM now just to register my interest).

Many Thanks for all the great reading I've been able to do on this forum thus far, particularly Mercury2wo for his great story, review + pics of his black SA.

The Chronomat is probably the best bet, considering you want to wear it with a suit + tie. But then again, most uf us could care less and wear anything we want with whatever we want. Ive seen pics of blacksteels and suits. Now for the obligatory line: "go try them on at your dealer and one of them will sing to you." Youll be surprised and might even find one that wasnt on your radar.

Well, here are some pictures of the Super Avenger I picked up through the group buy. The watch is much more stunning than my poor picture taking skills show.

Sweet watches Nathan. Its interesting that the skyland next to the SA looks similar in size, though the SA is much larger in person.

It's good for as long as we're told not to.

Mario - is the Group Buy still on? I've PM'd you with details. I appreciate it and am anxious to join the "B-list"

Hello all, yes. I'll try to continue to help out. I'm just asking that you send (or if I haven't helped you yet re-send) me what you need in an e-mail. The sheer amount of PM's has been making it easy to forget some

Please re-read carefully the first post on page one. There are more specific instructions on there.

Important: I was asked what I benefit from all this. Money wise, I haven't made a cent off of helping out. What ever amount you have paid for your Ling, I have paid for mine. I have 3 receipts for further review if need be. That said there are a couple of distinct perks I've had.

1 - The AD has kicked down various items like a wallet, pens, backpack etc. Some of these I gave away to a couple of the local breitling guys I hang out with. Two of them I offered to and sold to members here. One went to the UK, the other to Norway. I think they are both happy with it. That said the AD did not give me these out of payment for services or time but more out of appreciation because they understand how many hours of time goes into doing this. I know this is long winded but website building goes in cycles based on trade shows and when my niche clientele needs to display new products online. That said it's slow right now evidenced by my post whoring ;) besides this keeps me busy and out of trouble as I usually frequent local bars, gentleman's clubs, casinos, card rooms and other places of (ehem) debauchery that is rampant in my back yard called Southern California  .

2 - The second perk was to get dibs on the Limited Edition SA. I got a small discount on it as well though not as much as I would have liked. I didn't bump anyone from the list, I just happened to be the first to ask for it and put a deposit down, so it was mine to snag anyway! That said I may or may not actually buy it :? Driver has been talking me out of it :P

OK so now that I've typed my fingers off in closing, admin is aware of the above mentioned. I personally don't think it's too much to ask that I've had some schwag etc. But then again I might be biased.

Any complaints or shall we continue?

One more thought to add. This is a great forum, I love it!

I've had difficulty getting an item I've won on eBay UK and a member here had it delivered to him and then shipped to me in the US.

When I was looking for a red OR, a member here, this one from Scotland found me one at his AD, picked it up and shipped it to me.

Stories of this kind of friendship and camaraderie is rampant on this forum, which is WHY I love it so much! Almost 2000 people from all over the globe working in virtually all industries with the same passion for Lings... what NOT TO LOVE?!?

:D

Great call on the breitling for your 26th. I purchase my watch for my 26th b-day and can't wait for it to arrive.

Don't why anyone would complain.

My sentiments exactly. You get some freebies and others get a good deal. As long as everyone gets what they want, what's not to love about this arrangement?
