Well, thanks to all our discussions, and especially to Metal86 for his inspiration, the Seawolf will be my next Breitling.
I went to my AD to finally try one on, they have one with a black dial and Diver Pro strap. I wore my Blacksteel, for comparison, and they also had a black dial Steelfish like mine, so I was able to see all three side-by-side. It occurred to me that the Seawolf is "the" watch I have been looking for. I will get it with the PRO II bracelet, unless my Steelfish PRO II can be fitted to it. I understand, from another posting, that the link attaching the bracelet to the case at the lugs, is the thing that needs to be changed. I am blown away by the simple beauty of this watch, even with all the small details they have added. The black matt finish on the dial is perfect for the watch. I was going to go for grey, but the subdued black finish gives the dial just the look I want. The sides, and even the crown, are polished. That is something I might change later, although it looks great with the large appled logo, and the bright silver which surrounds the calendar at 3 o'clock, the batons at 6 and 9 o'clock, and the rectangle at 12 o'clock. It all sounds as though it could be rather a busy looking dial, in fact it all works very well.
I was going to wait because of the economic situation, and the state of my pension funds etc. but I just feel this is the time for the Seawolf. Hopefully, I will have it by month end.

As to the financial considerations, well, whilst it is good to be prudent it must also be remembered that the way intention and energy work (sorry I am letting my job come in here!) is that when you set an intention and action of abundence then what follows is always more abundance! The secret is to be clear and have faith in your abilities to create that abundance.

If you are then you can basically write your own rule book! The energy around this if I may say so is that of abundence, you have done your research and are very clear on what works, go for it as I believe it will lead to more rather than less!

Congrats, Carl. You're getting a hell of a watch. Apart from posting pics,
let us know all the details about actually wearing it -- the comfort/discomfort
level, how practical it is to wear it with long sleeves, is heaviness and thickness
a problem? -- stuff like that. The reason is, if for some reason I'm not able to
get my long sought after IWC Pilot's Chrono, then the Seawolf is my second
choice. So...enjoy, enjoy.

Thanks for all the comments, guys! Yeah, the Blackbird is on hold, but it has kind of gone down the list a bit since the new Seawolf - and the SA with the Baton markers - were introduced. I love the Windrider line, and have tried on the Cockpit and Blackbird (many times), but in all honesty, neither appeal to me as much as the Aeromarine models. I know the Windrider models have a more finished/rounded look or however you want to describe them, but I guess to me the epitome of the Breitlings is the Aeromarine line. I really like all of them, from the Colt Quartz right up to the Super Avenger. I truly appreciate the engineering and detail that go into the Blackbird, but when I try it on and go back to my Steelfish, I feel like I have the model I should be wearing. Same holds true for the Seawolf when I tried it yesterday. I know that if I loved the Blackbird enough, regardless of the cost, I would manage to get my hands on one. For that matter, if I ever do spend that amount of money on a single watch, I would probably go for the Bentley 6.75. It has the same movement as the Blackbird, and just has the chunkier look that I like.
Within the next month or two, I will be able to get my Seawolf. If my AD does not still have the one I tried yesterday, I will order it. I wish that I could see one with a grey dial, in person, all I have seen are photos on the Breitling website, and the excellent photos that Metal86 has posted. However, you really need to see it in person to be able to make a choice. The one with the black dial that I tried was even better, and showed way more details, than is possible in a photo.
For now, I will bide my time. I asked my AD to give me a call if the hear of a price increase, and also if they receive one with a grey dial in the next while. Meanwhile, I am more than happy with the Steelfish. I had the Blacksteel on yesterday, but it just doesn't give me the same pleasure as either my Steelfish or the Seawolf.
There is one in the window at La Swiss here in Vancouver, and it's open today, so I will probably stop by there and drool over it today.

Carl, I know you won't be buying from La Swiss, but as they are a chain it's easy for them to get watches from other stores. Might be worth asking them if they can get a grey dial from another store for you to see - that way you may have a better idea of which one to order if you have to go down that route.

I think you'll be OK on price rises until May, when I last talked to Grigoros they weren't anticipating anything currency related, though of course I'll post if I hear anything different.

Nice Carl!! It was Metal86's pics that put me over the edge too. Im still waiting on my call, hopefully it comes in soon. Congrats though, that watch is definitely one rugged piece.

Congrats Carl, I'd love to hear how it wears compared to your Steelfish on a daily basis.

Thanks for the advice. I actually went in to La Swiss today, and looked at the one with the black dial and stainless bracelet that they have in the window. Because the black is a matte finish, I found that the silver bracelet gives the black and effect of almost a dark blue. The one I tried yesterday had a Diver Pro, so the black in the strap brought out the black in the dial. Now I am tempted even more to wait until I see a grey dial.
La Swiss only has one location in the Vancouver are that carries Breitlings, that is the one downtown. The other is in Richmond, and they discontinued the Breitling line last year. I remember at the location downtown there was suddenly a huge inventory on new Breitlings, especially Chronomat and Colt series, in some cases a lot of duplicates. They had brought in all the stock from the Richmond store. Anyway, I don't know how interested they would be in bringing a watch in for me to see, it would likely come from Ontario. I must admit, though, that I have been more impressed with their service of late, I don't sense the pushiness - and borderline rudeness, in one case - that I sensed before. The two women that looked after me most recently, were actually very helpful. Today, I was offered a 20% discount right off the bat had I purchased the Seawolf. I don't think that I would have the conscience to ask them to bring in a model for me on approval, unless I intended to buy from them. Perhaps I am a bit of a "softy", but that is always how I have been.
I have a Tissot Le Locle, that I also purchased last year for just over $500.00. It is actually a splendid, very attractive watch for the price - an automatic, as well, with exhibition back. My regular AD will take that as a trade from me, and give me at least 25% off the Seawolf. I don't think that is too bad, although I may try for 30% with the trade. After all, I did buy a Raymond Weil, a Blacksteel, and a Steelfish there last year. Even if I did get just the 25% discount, I am sure that I will stick with them. They have been nothing short of exceptional in their level of service. Any issues at all, and they have been cleared up for me without question. I had occasion to talk to the watchmaker at La Swiss about servicing of my SuperOcean last year before my regular AD did it, and I was not impressed with his attitude.
Well, that's my story for now. Thanks so much for all your interest, and hopefully a new Seawolf will be mine in the near future.

it`s a magnificent watch . i got one in december with yellow dial and diver pro strap. noticed yesterday at my local AD in leeds that they had a sale on a couple of models. the new seawolf with black dial was reduced from £1980 to £1680 and the soh 38 had a similar discount. however , strangely one like mine was not reduced. i got a very good discount on mine as i ordered it and collected in tenerife otherwise i might have been somewhat annoyed !!

I agree with your comments about La Swiss Carl, If you get the right person they are OK but I have found them to be a bit like walking through a Kasbah, always a bit too pushy for me and you just know the bottom line is dollars and cents in that particular branch, not customer satisfaction! I am sure that other branches are much better but have no experience of them. Also I find that considering they are sell high end items and specialize in watches their technical knowledge is woefully inadequate IMHO

I know they say they are also able to service Breitlings but I can't see how that can be on site as it is one fellow in the corner of the store, whereas T&G have a dedicated workshop above the store. I have found T&G's discounts to be on par with La Swiss but way better service. It always reminds me of a bootmaker in London that I used to go to years ago, you were treated with value and respect and always that you were a customer for life regardless of if it was your first or multiple visit. For the sort of money spent on these watches I want that kind of service, not to be frank, a mall experience which the other one offers!
