hey guys, im still in a slump on which breitling to get. i was originally leaning towards the blackbird... well. even with the group buy, its more than i really want to spend right now.

so im basically got it down to

super avenger,
skyland,
seawolf (steel)
steelfish.

my other watch is an omega smp 300m diver. so the steelfish is really close in dimension ect. to the steelfish. the skyland fits perfect. i like the super avenger but am worried that the bling factor will draw TO much attention.lol

oh, i have an 8" wrist. so it doesnt look to out of place..

any thoughts?

All great watches, but I say go with the Super Avenger, if it suits your wrist, or the Skyland if you need something a bit smaller. Don't worry about the bling factor, unless you actually don't like the look. A new watch always feels super-conspicuous until you get used to it, and you can just wear the SMP when you feel like something a bit more low-key.

You could always tone down the bling factor with a different strap.

I can now say that I have both the Super Avenger and Avenger Skyland. The Skyland is a perfect fit and is big enough to give the confidence of a larger watch but not to big that it could become a distraction at work or a professional setting. The Super Avenger definitely makes a statement and if that is what you are trying to do it just happens to be the most bang for your buck too. You have narrowed it down to three terrific watches so just pick the one you think you will wear most. Then start saving for the others.

Agreed on all counts, some good points there.

crod - I should add to my earlier post that, despite steering you towards the SA/AS, I have only one Breitling at the moment myself and it's a Steelfish. I love it, but (1) my wrist is only 6.5" and (2) it was never going to be my only Breitling. It's a great everyday wearer (I rotate it with an Omega PO) but the Super Avenger is still going to be coming one day soon.

If you can handle the SA, then I vote for the SA. If not, the slightly smaller AS gets a second chance. However, they're all great so you can't really go wrong. Good luck!

There is quite a Bling factor with the Skyland as well, with the steel bracelet. Both the Super and Skyland you could fit with an Ocean Racer Strap, which could bring down the bling factor considerably, and also a very comfortable strap. I got one for my Steelfish, and it's great!
I was watching a show on PBS the other night, groups of entertainers from the 50's doing the old Doo Wop music. In one of the groups, all of whom were wearing black tuxedos, one of the singers was wearing a watch which I recognized but cannot put a name to, that had a black rubber strap. To me it did not look out of place. Neither, I feel, does the Ocean Racer strap, especially with the rather large stainless clasp.

im on the same boat right now between skyland and SA. Owned a SA before, but when I went to try on the skyland, thought it was a little bit on the small side. But then again, it could be because I didn't like the black face on the skyland since the gray dial I tried on looked a hell of alot better

I'd say get what you can afford since you said budget is a factor...

but between those choices I'd go SA

All great watches, as has been noted. Currently I own
a Steelfish and a Skyland (blue OR strap). Although I can't
wear the Skyland now (I've put on weight; strap is too
tight -- long story! ) I think it has a little more pizzazz than
the Fish. Either piece is a joy to wear You can't go wrong
with either one. I've never owned a SA, but the guys who
own them, love them. Good luck.

I disagree. I'd never settle for anything else than the piece I like best. I've done it once and it only resulted in disappointment and I had to sell the "less expensive" watch and get the one I wanted. Pretty bad deal. If the budget is too tight for what you really want, it's better to save the money till the funds have grown enough.

I agree 100% with Aleister on this one. I've made a couple of "watch mistakes" in the past myself, and exactly as Aleister's said, I ended up selling them on.

Definitely save for the one you REALLY want.

I once bought a watch because it was cheaper than the watch I wanted. It was a huge mistake and hassle to send it back. Long story short, I am wearing my Skyland on an OR strap and I love it.
