Hi All,

We have just got our first new generation Colt in store. It's the 33mm version. I was always intrigued to see what these looked like in the flesh, so to speak.

The generic press photos do not do these new Colts justice at all. I do like it. However, I do appreciate that the new range has lost some of the instant Breitling brand recognition of the outgoing models.

As always with Breitling the quality of finish is very high. I like the bezel and the contours of the case side that follow the bezel profile. The dial has some nice detailing that befits the genre but is not over done.

It's a shame that this range will be SuperQuartz only. However, I do believe that Breitling still have a great entry watch with the new Colt range.

It'll be interesting to see if the new design transposes as well to the 44m diameter version but I am definitely looking forward to getting my hands on one.

Here's a few quick and dirty pictures that I hope will give a better indication than the press images.

sorry, but the verdict stands. even worse in the metal, quite grotesque; the rehaut is much too high for a watch of this size, it must look a steel wart on a slim wrist, I will not go into what the totally disproportionate crown reminds me of; personal opinion and tastes only, of course.

Yeah, I'm with Fred.

Crown from the parts bin rather than producing one that suits the watch, a bezel that's way too big on a 33mm watch, a very deep rehaut and consequently high case, and yet again a failure to meet dive watch standards (no lume on the second hand).

That's without mentioning turning their back on a mechanical movement.

:yeahthat 100%

Sorry Ricardo, but I totally and utterly concur with Fred on this one.

I saw them in the flesh/metal at my AD a few weeks ago, and they're bl**dy HIDEOUS IMO - especially the wibbly-wobbly bezel/case side. Quite possibly the worst thing Breitling have made.... ever..... and as you can imagine it's up against some pretty stiff competition for that particular "accolade" amongst the generally hideous offerings Breitling currently have in their collection.

just wanted to edit my post to quote you from the last thread: viewtopic.php?f=1&t=32365&p=238500&hilit=yak#p238500

"This particular one appears to have been designed by a 3 month old chimp from his tree house in Peru, after having recently seen a 1980's Tag. The design was then apparently initially approved by a yak herder sitting in a tent in Mongolia, before finally being signed off for production by a one-eyed North Sea cod named Hank, who was found wintering in a fjord in Sweden. It would explain a lot"

Hank was blind, not one-eyed.

 I'd forgotten that particularly colourful piece of descriptive writing of mine! Yep, still hold true.

I just noticed that the box around the date window isn't finished either, now looks like the letter C using that font.

I know that some of us have been bemoaning recent design decisions, but by 'eck this is a weird looking watch - no idea how Breitling thinks that this is going to advance sales.

Quite!

And it's all the more bizarre considering how Breilting can still make some incredibly beautiful, handsome and classic pieces like the Transocean Chronograph and the Navitimer 01. Just odd how their design team(S) seem to work in complete isolation from each other.

Wow... Maybe it's the silver/white dial on my wife's Colt 33 but hers doesn't hit me in a negative way like this one does. This one seems clunky and rough where her 33 doesn't feel that way at all. I posted a pic of hers in the Ladies forum.

Here is my wife's Colt 33. It feels totally different to me that the one pictured at the top of this thread.

It's probably the camera used. The black seemed to be taken up close with a wide-angle which exagerates the large bezel, while your white one is taken at arm's length for a much more natural angle. The white and lighting also makes the rehaut less 'vertical'.

It's fair to say the white dial is a considerable improvement over the black.

I still don't get the radiant lines in the upper right and lower left quadrants. Why not either do the whole dial that way, or none at all? :huh

I saw the new 44mm chrono at my AD, and actually liked it more than I thought. The bracelet is slightly different than previous Breitlings, and it looks pretty good. Superquartz accuracy is a favorite of mine, and for the $$ this is a good, solid, piece. I'm in the minority here, but it's a pretty good lookin' watch in my opinion.

I don't care for the depth, bezel, crown, date window, or the 6, 9, 12.
