Hello everyone,

I have been asked this question a number of times now and (although I find it somewhat irritating) I try my best to humour the person asking the question without being offensive back :) . So if I'm somewhere with people I trust (ie colleagues at work or with friends/relatives), I hand my 'Ling to them and ask them what they think - real or fake? They can then see/feel for themselves and normally come back with 'real' :D .

So, my question - has this happened to you, has it happened a lot and what was your response/action?

:lingsrock:

I've never been asked, but If somebody were to ask me I'd probably just tell them it was fake to end the conversation.

Once in a while. I usually reply with something like "I hope so" or something like that.

That's a good response.

Great responses guys.

I think I like RJ's the best so far. Please keep responses coming - I am really interested to see what others say :).

Here, I'm more likely to be asked what kind of watch it is because you can not buy Breitling, Rolex, Omega etc. local! So it's quite easy to be unique in whatever you wear. (other than Seiko, Bulova, Citizen and a select few others)

I've been asked.

Nah fool think I'd lay out that kinda green on a real.....

Actually I just say yes is a real/authentic Breitling. Would you like to try it on?

This does depend on where and when, in Jamaica in particular, the hotel guest relation guys love to wonder about for a while wearing a nice watch.....makes the other WUS guests take a second glance for sure!!!.... You know that Rep is wearing a REAL Breitling!!!!! :uplaugh:

Job done

The only time I was asked was when I was in a watch store in Nassau. The dude behind the counter was selling AP's and wearing a fake Hublot. I left that place feeling a little confused.

I don't get asked, I get looks though - in NYC a guy did a full turnaround staring at (well I hope it was) the watch, and on the cruise I just took, I was lying by the pool and a guy was looking at it while walking by.

If anyone did ask if it was real, I would steal a line from Seinfeld "It's real and it's spectacular" (can't really refer to one as "they're")

Just reply with a wry smile or chortle and a (playful) "wtf do you think, dumbass?" look in the eye. No words necessary. :)

These responses are just brilliant guys - keep them coming :P .

@nr 123 - Yes, I've often had the stares but I pretend not to notice.

@Novacastrian - sparkling personality wins everytime :D .

@bananatree - tricky that one, I would be expecting to have to duck in order to miss the punch in the mouth coming my way :guns: .

I have been asked exactly one time. my response was "would you be able to tell?" and then offering to let him try it on. I handed it to him, an acquiantance, and he claimed to know it was real "by the weight".
