This is what I do to keep my Breitling in prestine condition. After im done with polishing the scratches out I put a coating of high content Carnauba wax. It has to be a very high carnauba content such as Zymol wax(not the cheap stuff either) otherwise it will flake and dry in the cracks and seams. It works awesome on the shine and any fingerprints wipe easily off!! Sometimes I use a "field glaze" spray wax just to keep the luster on the stainless steel.

Wow, that takes things to a whole new level! My personal hatred is of scratches, so I'm pretty picky about that, but I don't go as far as waxing my watches. Just a regular wash in mild soap and water, and then a thorough rinse off and it's done. Waxing and field glaze is a whole 'nother matter!

Zymol is damn good wax never thought to use it on my watch! I would like to see some pics. Of the pre and post wax watches too

And not even a single drink in me! Whoops!

My brother uses the Zymol Wheel Wax Coat on his watches and they turn out amazingly. I personally haven't done it myself but am eager to try it..

I've been thinking if there was something such as a clear laqeur or clear spray that could be applied to the clasp as that's the main scratch magnet.

There is a lot of advice re removing the scratches but not seen much on preventing them. I have thought about cutting up one of those ZAGG invisible Shiekd screen protectors as it's great on the phone and might keep some of the worst stratching.

Any other ideas or thoughts on this...... Am I going mad?

I hate scratches as much as the next Guy, but wow.
I mentioned this to my wife because she asked what I was reading and she called me a nut and laughed at me. Oh well

Wow, that is an interesting idea. I had not thought wax would work because the steel is unpainted and uncoated. I can't say why it wouldn't work, though, just that I didn't know it would.

Nothing but high-grade carnauba wax touches my car, so I have plenty of it lying around. I do use it to coat the wood trim in my car's interior because the trim is covered with the same clearcoat as the car body. It works really well. For those who have black stove tops, putting a coat of wax on it keeps stains from sticking and grease from building up, too (the grease seems to cause fingerprints to show up easily). So if it bonds to the steel, it seems like it should have the same effects on the bracelet: inhibit greasy fingerprints, increase shine, hide scratches.

If it works, one could make quite a business out of it: "Send me your watch and for $100 I will hand apply a bonded coat of my secret all-natural hypoallergenic emollient that will increase shine, inhibit fingerprints and make scratches all but invisible."
