I went and tried on the Super Avenger again for the second time today, and have decided that the thing is just too damn big for my 6 3/4" wrist. It looks ridiculous... but not bad at $4100CAD... its a good price! A lot cheaper than my Chronomat Evolution. A lot of that has to do with the bracelet cost I think.

But yeah.. on me, the SA just looked ridiculous, and i like my watches big, too. I've had people tell me the 40mm Ball looks big on my wrist too tho.

When I went to the store to try out some watches before deciding I also tried the SA. I got the same feeling as You did, it was too big for me! That watch is for big men and bodybuilders

To each their own but yeah I do agree it's way too big. Like you I like big watches but yeah this one takes it to another level. 44mm is the maximum. Though some watches wear smaller than others even though the case size is large. I would consider the Avenger Skyland. SS version of CA. I'm thinking of that as my next Breitling.

Admin,

We went to Palm Beach Saturday and visited Tourneau jewelers and they had a HUGE selection of Breitlings. I tried on the Super Avenger and the problem is the thickness. The Super Avenger is 48.4 MM and my Bentley Motors is 48.7 MM so the Bentley is actually a little lager in diameter than the Super Avenger but it's OK because it's not as thick. The Super Avenger is 18.6 MM thick and the Bentley Motors is 15.2 MM thick so that's where the difference is. I'm waiting for a local dealer that takes trade ins to get a Bentley 6.75 with a Blue or Black dial. He will give me a good price for my 2 Chronomats and then I will just pay the difference and get the 6.75 . However I still like the looks of the Super Avenger but now I'm hooked on the Navitimer/Bentley style Lings with the slide rule bezel and all of the different functions .

I agree, and I have big wrists (wear my CA on the last hole with a leather strap, and I use all the links with the PII).

Visually, I think I could just pull it off - even if I did look a little "gangsta rapper". but what put me off was the weight of the damn thing, it weighs a ton, and I felt like the SA was wearing me rather than the other way around.

Having said that tho I would love to own one, I'd put it on the mantle and just admire it, and polish it every day, and hey I'd probably give it a name too :0)

I have to say I think it's a bit too big...I've never picked one up, but my CA in Titanium (and 44mm) is just about right, and I don't have microscopic wrists either.

I'm a little concerned about the weight of the Avenger Skyland that I've ordered - it's 45mm and Stainless Steel - that's gonna be a shock! Having said this, the strap supplied is the Diver Pro so overall it'll be lighter I guess....

I do agree with accel in that it is the thickness and lug design that makes the SA look too big on the wrist... I tried on a Flying B and the same thing.. the lugs stuck out just a bit too much on the top and bottom.. hopefully the new Flying B No.3 will be just about right.

I have found that once on a strap, the heavy watches seem much lighter, providing you have the strap on tight enough. But yeah.. the SA.. just sticks out like crazy on my wrist. I love the look of the similarly diametered Motors on my wrist, however. The Solid Gold Motors i tried on the other day on brown leather looked fantastic :)

Admin,

They have an all solid gold Motors at my dealer here in Florida and that thing is great but it's on a Croc band. When I get one I'm getting the Gold Bracelet. Since I have been wearing my Motors everything else looks small to me. I looked at a Chronomat Evolution the other day and about 2 months ago I was dying to get one of those but now I put them on and they look PUNY to me. At my dealer here they have a Red Gold Navitimer World on an all Red Gold 7 rowed bracelet that is unbelievable but I like the Motors better. If you think the Super Avenger is thick take a look at the Emergency Mission. The SA is 18.6 MM thick, the Emergency Mission is 19.2 MM thick. That's really out of hand. I actually liked the looks of the SA looking straight down at it and I have no problem with the diameter but when you hold your arm down and look down at the the thing it's really thick. I have gotten used to the thickness and diameter of the Motors and it's great I'm anxious for an all gold one.

If I bought a golid gold Motors I think I would want it on Honey Brown Croc... Solid gold bracelet would make me look like I was trying too hard I think. The lady at the AD was kind of funny.. she said "I think a strap would look better for you, you are too young to wear all gold." Solid gold bracelet added $15K CAD too!

I am used to wearing the Chronomat Evo and I like it.. but i can see how getting used to a 48mm watch the smaller ones might seem puny! Maybe I should not get a 48 yet!

Admin,

I can tell you from experience that you get used to these bigger watches real fast. As you know I started with the Bentley GT and in a week I thought it was too small. Now I have the full Bentley Motors and I love it. I'm 51 years old so the All Gold bracelet is fine for me and I hate leather or Croco bands on anything but watches like Patek Phillippe's. Give the full Bentley a try you said you like the Motors T so get one of those, I guarantee that 2 days after you get it you will look at it and not even notice the size anymore until you put on one of your other smaller ones and then you will be looking to swap them out for bigger ones. SIZE DOES MATTER when it comes to Breitlings. Let's face it we are all Breitling freaks on this forum so it makes sense that we would always enjoy more of a good thing.

Admin,

Do yourself a favor and go pick up a Motors T with a steel bracelet (don't ever buy half a Ling) I promise that within 2 hours of getting it home you will be so happy you won't believe it. If you have been wearing Chronomats like I was you will notice the difference in the way the watch works when you push the top knob for the second hand to start the totalizers and the difference from the caliber 25-B and how it works. You will also be impressed with the 30 second Chronograph function, how the watch glows in the dark and last but not least the IMPRESSIVE SIZE. Like I said before in 2 days you will find anything under 48 MM to be a ladies watch.

Congrats! The Super Avenger is a really good deal of a watch... especially for Breitling. They retail at only $4100CAD on the bracelet... substantially less than the $5400 Chronomat Evo.. but like you said, Canada is out... they finally got some in at La Swiss but they are the older ones with the small applied logo. I like the BIG applied logo of the new ones!

Post pics when you get it!!! :D

Nope.. one on the site has the small wings logo. there is one with a big one.. like headwind/cockpit applied logo size. I love the big logos.. hence why i bought both the Headwind and the Cockpit :)
