hey guys. im here for some advice on a purchase as soon as i find a reputable seller. i recently had a bad experience on ebay. the guy swapped out a bezel and the watch was in no condition near what was described and pictured. to top it off when i emailed him to express my concern in the switch and lies he began to threaten and say i was looking for problems. what made the situation worse is that the watch was an engagement gift and in order to save the fiance a few dollars i figured id go used :( :( . luckily i was able to get a refund through paypal. now that i have my money i figure id spend a few extra bucks and buy a new watch from a reputable seller. 2 watches that have caught my eye for are the chrono avenger and the super avenger.

my questions are
1. which are reputable online dealers? i know of two that appear to be popular but i dont know if i can post them here.
2. i love the super avenger but is the size and weight overwhelming? my previous watch was a chrono avenger titanium and it felt pretty good.
3. is there really much noticeable size difference between the super and the chrono?
4. is there anything else i should purchase along with the watch in terms of care for it? polishing cloths? a decent winder?

thank you all for your help in advance, hopefully my next buy will be a pleasant experience

I would have thought you would have learnt a thing or two from your previous experience - but I guess not!

There are NO Reputable Online Authorised Breitling Dealers.
In fact there are NO Online Authorised Breitling Dealers - Period.

Unless you are looking for a "suspect" watch again (With serial numbers sanded off, without proper paperwork, or maybe even a fine 'looking' watch where everything 'seems' in order, etc), I would strongly advise you to head for the nearest Authorised Dealer - which you can find on the Breitling Website.

Best of Luck with your watch hunt!

Hi k24, in a lot of ways Mercury2wo is correct in as much as they only way to be 100% certain about a watch is to go to an AD. All my personal collection pieces have come from AD's.

HOWEVER, I'd dispute the comment that there are no trusted on-line dealers. Two that immediately spring to mind are PrestigeTime and Interwatches. I have experience of both of these (both from friends who bought from them, and from buying from them myself on behalf of others), and the experience was very good. Obviously just because I have had good experiences, doesn't mean that everyone else will, but I have no reason to doubt them at all. In the examples I've seen, all had full paperwork and all serials intact.

In terms of the size of the SA, then yes it is appreciably larger and heavier than a CA. The ONLY thing to do is go and try one on. Do not buy an SA without trying it first!!

Some Cape Cod polishing cloths are great for removing swirls once every couple of months or so, but apart from that, just good old soap and water is all you'll really need. A winder is only of use if you have more than one watch and won;t be planning to wear your SA that often. Otherwise, just wear it and enjoy it! Good luck!

Authorized Dealer without hesitation. Even the two online dealers Driver referred to are not AD's for Breitling. They may have sold Lings with box, papers, and serial numbers, but if there is any discrepancy whatsoever with the origin of the watch, Breitling will not touch it under warranty. They will service it for a price!

With the aggressive nature of most AD's and their respective pricing now, there is honestly no real reason to buy from anyone other than an AD.

Why have any doubts? Just my opinion of course! Good Luck. :lingsrock:

Just to be clear in case anyone is unsure - Coasterkid is totally correct when he says the two dealers I mentioned are not Breitling AD's : they most certainly aren't, and in actual fact there are NO official Breitling on-line dealers. However, k24 was asking if there are any reputable on-line vendors of Breitlings (i.e. not AD's) and these two are the best I have come across. Incidentally, a mate of mine who bought a 6.75 from Interwatches had to send it in to Breitling for regulation and as the paperwork was all in order there were no warranty issues at all.

But as I say, just because I've had/heard of good experience, it doesn't mean that everyone will get the same, and I guess it speaks volumes that all of my personal watches have always come from official AD's!

I personally felt the super avenger was too big FOR ME...so I went with a Avenger Seawolf. Which was perfect. I would suggest you go to your local AD try on the super Avenger and also take a look at the Avenger Skyland , which is basically a SLIGHTLY smaller version of the Super Avenger but also larger then the Chrono Avenger. Its really just a matter of personal preference....

Nope. I've owned two (down to one now) and they always fitted me just fine. Sure they are large, but after trying them, they felt great.

To be honest I'm pretty sure the only people who own SA's and think they are too large are people who either bought one without trying one on first (very foolish), or those who tried one on, didn't really like it, but bought it anyway because they think it's cool and will impress others (even more foolish).
