Hello All, I am very surprised to not hear about super bargains in this time of great economic upheaval.
It appears to me that many dealers are sitting tight on prices and would rather hold their head up high instead of discounting.
I am keen to hear about super specials/super bargains.
Personally I think 20-25% of retail is the norm when things were good. In these times I would expect specials are 30-40% off retail.
People in the know have told me that dealers normally make 45% on watches sold at full retail. Obviously running a shop/staff/advertising is not free..... but surely it now is the time to get the bargain of the century!
Personally I buy my watches on the used market. I am sick and tired of dealing with snotty shop assistants who think they are god. At least in the used arena the pretense has gone!
The tempting thing is however when used prices start matching newish pieces!
Surely the original Navitimer is a hard sell when it is competing against the Datora and Navtimer world (at not much more $$$$). Surely the brown dial versions would be a hard sell.....
Please report back.
Kind regards,
