Hello,
I was reading the manual for Emergency Mission and it says: "Warning: the transmitter may only be activated in the case of distress in aviation." Is that the case?

Can be used, lets say, during camping or skiing accidents (real emergency situations)?

The transmitter is just a minature EPIRB or ELT that transmits on 121.5 MHz, which is the international emergency frequency. This frequency is monitored by military and commercial airline aircraft and until 2009, also by satellites, regardless of emergency type.

We often hear emergency beacons on this frequency, not knowing whether they come from land or sea location. Their initial detection is reported to ATC who then confirms with other aircraft in your vicinity and then initiates SAR action.

The problem of the ELT is the cost of the SAR-Mission. If an ELT is activated due to an aeronautical accident, the missioncost is covered by insurence (at least in Europe, not sure about the US, but I assume, its the same). If You use Your emergency during a skiing accident, You will probably have to cover the cost by Yourself, unless You have Your own insurance, that expressively states, that it will cover it.

For the frequency change, that will happen, I cannot yet say, what Breitling ist planning.
