Hi all,

I've been toying with the idea of getting my fiancee a nice watch as a wedding present. Naturally, I thought of Breitling, as I have a Colt Automatic myself. What are your opinions on the Colt Oceane II for ladies? I took a look at a couple at my AD, and they seemed nice to me. My only concern is that they have a slightly masculine look (in spite of the small size). Other than that, any idea on what sort of pricing I can expect for one with or without the diamond bezel? It'll probably have a light-coloured dial. Thanks for your input!

The retail without diamonds is $2,000 with the steel bracelet or $1,730 on a strap. I think it’s a great looking watch but only if she doe not mind wearing something a little more masculine. Have you taken a look at the Lady Cockpit? It is a little more expensive but less masculine.

Thanks for the info, LouWal. I actually went in to the AD again yesterday to take a look, and decided against the Colt. It really is too big for my fiancee's wrist, from what I can tell. The Cockpit Lady looks really nice to me, and I think I might be able to get a good deal on it for one with 8 diamonds at the number positions. Let's see what happens!

Terenoth,

I would recommend bringing her in to try a couple things on. If you can't do that (e.g. if you want it to be a surprise) make sure you can return the watch, just in case. I was 100% set on getting my wife a Lady Cockpit, until just by chance we went into the store and she tried it on. It was just so much bigger than I imagined. I think sitting in the case next to the Super Avengers and Steelfish's, you lose sight of how large the watch is. Just a thought. If she's tried it on and likes the size, it's a BEAUTIFUL watch, especially with the diamond markers!

The thing is a question of budget. The Colt Oceane is the lowest price Breitling on the market. It is a really nice watch, but when You put it next to a cockpit, and price is not the issue, You will take the cockpit.

So if You already have set a pricelimit, show only the Oceane, otherwise, You might leave without a ladieswatch or bust Your budget.

Terenoth - My personal opinion is that all Breitling ladies models have a slightly manly look to them......, EXCEPT the Starliner. The Starliner is easily the most feminine model, so if I was you I'd be tempted to check one of those out. If memory serves (and I don't have the Chronolog in front of me) the Starliner is also the smallest Breitling out there, so you'll have no issues with it looking like a man's watch on her. Just an idea......

Thanks for all the comments, guys! I actually do want it to be a surprise... I was thinking of taking my sister in and have her try some of them on, to get an idea of how they look on a female wrist. Their wrists are about the same size.

Driver 8, any idea what the retail on a Starliner might be? I'm looking for full stainless steel, white dial, and possibly with diamond markers. Thanks again!

I don't have the Chronolog/price list in front of me, but if no-one beats me to it, I can look it up for you tonight. (Will be in GBP though). I think all Starliner dials are MOP, but they do a very nice ivory/off-white version that is available with diamond markers. The MOP tends to put the price up a little compared to others, but for a feminine Breitling they are very hard to beat IMO.

Haven't been on here for a while (getting married will do that to you!), but decided to come back and see what was new. I also wanted to let everybody know what I ended up getting for my wife... After looking at Breitlings again, and also Longines and Tags, I ended up with... An Omega Deville Prestige Small. It's a VERY feminine watch, and looks great on her wrist. She was very excited by it, which is of course the response one would want. :) Thanks to everyone for their input!

I'm looking at the colt oceane for my wife. Her hand is athletic, not really slender on the fingers. The watch is a good match with diamonds. I don't like the watch without the diamond bezel however. All depends on her hand & her build. Same goes with the larger mens watches.
