A few weeks ago I tried on a Super Avenger and decided right there that I had to have a Breitling. I have ben studying this site amung others to try to get a good feel of exactly what kind of model I want. I narrowed it down to the Super Avenger and the Skyland. Since I'm new at this any abvice would be greatly appreciated. (Where to buy, price hunting, etc.)

Just picked up my first one today as well. Go to Breitling and look for AD's on their site. Visit multiple places get a feel for the dealer and their staff. Get a price from the dealer you like the most and then go to others and get prices as well. If one of the others gives you a better price go back to to the AD you like and negotiate. They will appreciate the fact that you came back even though you got a better price somewhere else. In my case they actually beat the price by a half percent because I came back.

This isn't just a purchase of a great timepiece. It a chance to establish a relationship with a jeweler as well to benefit you in the future with other purchases.

Hope this helps. If not sorry

PM sent with the contact info for a great AD to work with. He's helped out numerous people on this site and there's plenty of feedback on him in the feedback section. I think the one thing you should just consider is if you want the stenciled numbers or the batons that are the SA. Also, the SA is larger, although both of those watches are pretty big.

If you like them both it really comes down to what size your wrists are and if you are comfortable with a large watch. The 3.4mm between them makes a pretty big difference IMHO.

Go to an AD and ask questions....loadz of 'em. Get a feel for how you are treated and a good response will fill you with confidence. My advice is that if you are a 1st time buyer, then purchasing your 1st Ling from an AD will make you feel more comfortable than buying elsewhere.

Added to that is the whole experience......handling each individual and different model, seeing which one suits you, trying different strap/bracelet combos and then comes the nervy bit. You arrive at the point where you know what you want. The heart beats faster, the legs get a bit shakey, the words don't come out right and the cash/credt card starts leaping out of your pocket/wallet.....Bingo! The Ling's yours!

Then you walk out of the shop with a bag containing the best watch you can get, IMHO. That alone makes you inches taller!

You get home, put it on your wrist and admire the work of art you've just bought.

Then the madness starts and you plan buying the second one..........

I think it depends both on your wrist size and whether you like the shiny metallic numbers (or bars) or the white stenciled look.

Unfortunately for me, I prefer the size of the Skyland but the face design of the SA. I really like the shiny Arabic numerals over the white stenciled ones. Make really sure you like the size of the watch. There is quite a difference between the two.
