They probably have an AD who repairs or send the watches to Breitling for them.

If the serial number is grey market, no work will be performed...

How will they know if the warranty is filled by any AD in the world who gave it on grey market?
I think that Breitling will work on any Ling if it's got serials, it's not modified or stolen.

Do you really think they can service a watch for "Free" for the lifetime of the watch (Especially when the watch is grey market, no parts are available for repair, and Breitling USA will not touch it with a 10 foot pole)? Also since the watch is grey market and if they couldn't repair it, there is no guarantee they could get another like grey market piece

Well, they probably send to Joe Blow's Watch Fixer and do it up smooth there. Of course, that's a small favor compared to what Breitling does, but then again it's (apparently) free.

If there is a serial, they will fix it. They will not fix it under warranty though. You have to pay.

Correct... If the serial number is correct no warranty work will be performed. Also, if the watch is not registered with BUSA the warranty registration card from an authorized AD must accompany the watch. The watch and the warranty must match. I confirmed today that if a watch is sold by Costco, it will not be worked on under warranty.

That is yet another reason not to buy your watches along with your groceries and car tires...

Why not? What's the difference between buying a used watch from someone here with full documentation or buying the watch from Costco with full documentation? The warranty goes with the watch, not the first owner.

Of course, if they keep the warranty booklet to protect their AD supplier, then there's no difference from buying the same watch from Authenticwatches or similar. And if you do that, you should be prepared in the first place that you will have to pay for everything Breitling do with your watch (provided the serials are intact, if not you're pretty screwed).

Edit: And if I had bought a Breitling from them, I would never dream of letting them deal with any repair, warranty related or not. That would be strictly sent to a Breitling service center. For my own peace of mind and for a possible next owner.

Yes, I do not understand the difference between buying from Costco and a reputable online seller. Both offer their own warranties to compensate for Breitling's. With Costco, however, the warranty never ends and there is some convenience in being able to still interact with a brick-and-mortar store.

Trust me on this one. BUSA is aggressively monitoring the grey market business in the US right now. For those that purchase grey market watches, the warranty issue is a chance that you take.

I just believe that AD's would probably be extremely close in price with the current economy, giving the buyer a worry free experience.
