Hey all,
Glad to be on this forum, have always wanted a Breitling and yesterday had my offer accepted on a Breitling Colt Ocean A17050. Initially I was quite sure it was real as the model number on the caseback matches and the bracelet was screw in links etc., and just thought the seller has taken a few really bad pics of the watch, but now I'm not too sure so would appreciate some help!

I am no expert but the quality of those pictures would make me run from this deal, the casebook looks absolutely horrific, I don't know what your offer was but I believe better options are available. I would pass!

Well it was purchased using Paypal so I'm a little protected there, the seller claims it's definitely real.. I thought the same looking at the caseback, but perhaps it could be the clear film distorting the engraving? Is this model Colt Ocean a model that is faked often?

The pictures are horrible I agree, but this is exactly the type of add I look for when buying second hand watches - adds with lower quality photos taken by people who perhaps don't know much about their watches and how to clean their watch and take nice shots for a sale, a lot of people would overlook this and hence my low ball offer was accepted. I know a fair bit about Omegas, but this is my first Breitling and although the pics make it hard to determine whether it is an original, I'm leaning towards it being real and not fake. I can't find any info on fake colt oceans (did they even make fakes of these?).

I agree. Some of my best deals were buying watches with crappy photos. It scares most away but you might end up with a killer deal.

Just received the watch today, 100% original and not fake!

The condition is very good also - the add just had quite bad pictures... Pretty good for 500 USD
