"SUPER AVENGER II
The ideal companion for all manner of challenges, the Super Avenger II chronograph combines an imposing 48 mm diameter with a powerful and extremely professional aesthetic. Its steel case water-resistant to 300 m (1,000 ft) is geared up for the most extreme missions thanks to its rugged construction, its screwed-in pushpiece guards and its solid screw-lock crown with non-slip grip. The selfwinding chronograph movement is chronometer-certified by the COSC, the only industry benchmark in terms of precision and reliability based on an international standard."

I claim horse shite if Breitling is claiming "negligence" and abuse...

I think we all know it's shite, when I go sailing or car mending or gardening I wear an ecodrive or a g shock. I take the lings off for anything that could result in a hefty repair bill. Instruments for professionals they MAY be but not if that extreme mission could result in bumping into a stale croissant...

Very good outcome! I am sure this thread had something to do with their decision to fess up and make good on the warranty. Got to love the power of social media.

Keep us posted.

glad to hear you were able to contact Breitling and have it fixed under warranty. Like I said, something didn't make sense when it was not covered as long as you had the original warranty card.

Nice that it worked out at the end.

I would just like to add that I try to wear automatic watches with screw down crown often, be it Breitling or some other brand because I don't like unscrewing and screwing the crown for winding and, while I do it, I'm most cautious.

I really like to wear Breitling watches during every activity - be it motorcycling, hiking, on the bicycle, swimming, rollerskating etc and they always deliver without a single problem.

But screwing the crown somewhat scares me :D

If you don't wear your watch often, maybe buying a simple winder would do much to prevent that problem from reoccurring in the future.

I wear mine when diving, surfing and climbing and any other similar activity, but that's when I get the most pleasure out of owning them. Each to his own, I guess; I'm willing to take the hit if they get damaged.

Are you serious? $7000 watch, supposedly "manufactured to the highest quality standards and built to be rugged" can't withstand normal business dress wear? I purchased this watch over a Rolex... I will not make that mistake again... VERY DISSAPPOINTED...

Just curious, they really charge that much of a premium for the Caribbean limited edition vs. the standard Super Avenger at $5800?

Good to hear, Breitling is usually pretty good about warranty work.

The crown is exectly why I ended up flipping my TI Seawolf. I'd heard that the crown threads on the TI watches were very easily cross threaded and was a major issue due to the case design.

To the OP, I'm glad Breitling stepped it up. It's too bad they didn't cover this at the beginning. It's almost like a supervisor should have to approve customer correspondence before it leaves.

I think screw down crowns are generally an expensive repair waiting to happen.
