Bought a Superocean 44 and a part gold Galactic before Christmas in Brighton AD store. The Superocean gained 8-10 seconds a day so after 2 months took it back. It went to service centre and came back 7 weeks later. Same result. OK its only a couple of seconds a day over the +6 but over a couple of weeks if a few minutes, annoying...

Sent it back with the Galactic which was gaining 2 hours a day!!!!

Watches of Swizzerland said that they would replace my SuperOcean and send the Galactic for repair....They then sent the SuperOcean back after a week saying it kept perfect time, claiming they wound it every day and kept it in their safe..

Well it doesn't. Now am in a fix. They are saying send it in again for testing, but the last time they simply didn't do anything, so whats the point. They promised a replacement watch and then didn't deliver that.

I accept that you can have issues with products but its the AD thats at fault here isn't it..Is there some independant tester you can get a watch tested...I spend over £8000 on these 2 watches and neither of them work.

(PS: My rolex GMT is 20 years old and gains 2 seconds a month)

Any watchmaker has a timing machine and should be prepared to show you the results. If your AD has a watchmaker they should do that, though there is no way in the world they should be offering to replace a watch that runs two seconds faster than COSC. The watch running two hours fast could likely have been fixed in about 3 seconds by passing it through a demagnetiser, again any watchmaker has one.

The UK Breitling repair centre is 12 miles from home here, the watch gaining 2 hours has been away a month now, the superocean gained 40 seconds since i posted yesterday, so getting quicker and quicker.

The point though is if only 2 seconds over the +6 then am I supposed to accept that is accurate enough and does not warant a 2 month visit to Breitling.

The AD is a shop with no skilled staff.

The AD has offered a new replacement watch.....must have seen these posts and finally capitulated. Am getting the 42mm SuperOcean11 hoping as its smaller than the 44mm has a different movement. (I was never going to dive to 1000M anyway!)

So end of thread from me.....worth logging in to get result.

A trip to the Breitling website would have revealed that the movement is the same for the two Superoceans, It is a shame that your AD does not have a trained watchmaker on staff. One of my watches was running a little fast and the Watchmaker at my AD was able to adjust it in about ten minutes!

This is two UK ADs we have heard about who have replaced watches that need nothing more than a minor regulation. It's a horrible precedent to be setting.

Back again, on the movement being the same does that mean it will never be accurate? Or can this movement be adjusted to chrono specs...

I got the new watch offer BTW by offering to just give the super ocean back to the shop without asking for my money back, the small catch was that I was going to do it with a news camera team present. To be honest, I really didn't want to wait another 6 weeks or so and get the watch back still gaining at least 8 seconds a day...I was in an endless loop. I may still be with the new 42mm Super Ocean 11 .

It's just as capable of being regulated to COSC specs as the last one was.
