Can someone explain to me the difference between the AD on the Breitling website Vs. Those who sell them and are not listed on the website. I'm curious because I know this was discussed in another thread and someone said to be careful purchasing from AD's who are not listed on the Breitling website because you won't be able to claim upon warranty however, I recently purchased a watch from a AD who I noticed was not on the website. The watch began having Chronograph issues. I immediately overnighted the watch to Breitling and it is being serviced under warranty. Any input would be appreciated. Thank You.

Breitling Authorised Dealers (ADs) should be listed on their site, if a retailer is not listed on the site then they are non authorised grey market dealers. Grey market dealers source their watches from ADs and to protect the AD (who breaches their contract with Breitling by supplying the grey market) the warranty is usually withheld.

It shouldn't be possible to buy from an AD not listed on the website because all ADs should be listed so either the site hadn't been updated or the retailer had been removed and still had stock left (which is probably the likeliest scenario).

Well , that's at odds isn't it! Potentially, a non authorised AD being able to send a watch to the maker for repairs. Are you sure it's gone to Breitling?

Anyone can send a watch to Breitling. It's probably done as a 'customer' not a dealer.. With a bit of a Mark up!

But OP's point was he had a warranty from a purchase of a (presumably new) piece bought from a dealer not listed on the website, nothing to do with who sent it to Breitling (which OP says was him).

Correct guys. I purchased a Transocean 18k Rose Gold Limited Edition from what I thought was an authorized dealer. Now that I think about it, I think this may have been inventory they still had and were trying to sell. Long story short, upon receiving the watch the chronograph function stopped working shortly thereafter. I immediately sent to Breitling with the international Warranty and they are covering it under warranty.

So either my AD didn't have current info on Breitlings website or it was back stock. Not sure, but either way Breitling is recognizing the 5 year warranty it came with.

Does the warranty card have the same dealer name on it that you bought the watch from?

You know, I am not 100% positive as the watch along with the warranty card are in Breitling's possession at the moment. However, I don't remember the writing from the warranty card clearly matching the seller I purchased it from. There is a possibility it could be slightly different. Thoughts?

Did you purchase the watch new or used? If used, perhaps the dealer purchased the watch from a client who originally purchased it from an AD?

The watch was definitely purchased Brand New. Have you guys ever heard of The Watch Bang. They are a relatively new company from downtown Philly. I believe they might work with or in conjunction with another store (I doubt it is Govberg). They also have an Ebay store.......The rep I dealt with was very accommodating and curious, the watch was 100% authentic, packaging was beautiful, experience all around was great minus the watch needing service so soon. I was limited where I could buy this from because it is only 1 of 200 made in the world and not too many are still available for sale. Not to mention they were willing to work with me on price as opposed to the breitling boutique.

Sound a lot like a grey market retailer who didn't withhold the warranty.
