I am looking at a Brietling Steelfish watch and the retail with the Pro band is $2,945. I was wondering what is the dealer cost in order to negotiate my price with the watch store. They said they could come down %20 but I wonder what the real mark up is on this watch. Any help would be great.

Well it depends - it varies considerably depending on the size of the AD, number of watches etc - typically 45 - 55% of retail is dealer cost, but........

That's not terribly relevant. The more relevant question is what kind of discount can you max out at. 20% is pretty good, especially if you don't have a relationship with the AD yet. You may find an AD who can go more, potentially closer to 30%, and you should contact In2Deep (Mario) to see what he can do through the group buy that his AD is offering.

Roff is correct. This is different than car shopping, where knowing invoice is reasonably relevant. Remember that although getting a great price is always a good thing, dealers have to make something on the deal. This is especially true if you value their service after the sale, which with few exceptions (from what I've seen, heard, and read) is generally excellent.

I got 30% as a walk-in on my first Bling. That, and the people ad my AD are nice and responsive, means future business.

I agree. 30% is very good. 40% is amazing! My store offers 20% to anyone walking in and 25% to return customers. 30% if you really push. 40% if you are very lucky.
