I think the picture is probably intentional to act as a disclaimer.

At the right price I would buy it if I wanted the watch (with that bezel, I don't). It's still under warranty so to some degree the amount of damage isn't that relevant. There is the possibility that Breitling could deny service because of abuse, but that's unlikely, so while the price would have to reflect the risk, there could well be a bargain to be had.

That's a good point, and they should allow the old compass bezel be put on under warranty since the new bezel was clearly put on by mistake :)
