first post, so maybe this is covered somewhere..
I just got my maritime chrono, but the original strap is replaced by a divers strap... not the nicest one, so i'm trying to find out if an original strap still might be somewhere around... any ideas on where to look, since it's quite an uncommon model?

I'm also considering sending it to Breitling for a fixup... it's not in its original shiny state after all those years but wondering what your experiences are on the older models going to breitling for fixups/checkups ? Would it be 'normal' to get original parts in it, or just replacements from other models that would affect the originality of this one..

I have this watch. The original rubber strap is rather unimpressive and you can probably use any aftermarkter rubber strap.

As for the repair, it has been a pain and in fact I am looking for an independent vintage shop to help me out (any recommendations from the forum?). The watch ran fine for many years, and then started running fast. I sent it to Breitling's West coast repair depot, who failed to fix it. The watch was sent to CT and then back to Europe - it took a long time and a lot of money to get it fixed...only to break again a couple years later. I don't want to send it back to Breitling again because the last repair went pretty poorly.

The watch itself if pretty neat. I was going to sell it but then found this forum and my watch was listed. I decided to see if I can get it serviced first before unloading it.

Shouldn't you be able to get a new Breitling diver strap? I imagine it's just a visit to your AD away.

For servicing/restoring older Breitlings I've heard nothing but excellent reactions from several owners. I think you should do it, after checking estimated time and cost of course.

I've got no beef with BUSA...they fixed my Old Navitimer a few years back with no incidence, but my Maritime experience was not so great. Even after it was sent to Europe and came back, the bezel was a little loose and I had t keep snapping it back in place since I didn't want to send it back again. Hopefully I can find someone else to help me out.
