Just curious as to what type of watch you prefer or is part of your collection.

I am partial to Automatics with a remote possibility of a manual wind.

I like the autos first, superquartz second. Ive never owned a manual wind, but I would imagine it would get quite annoying, as I dont even like to wind my auto once a month. The manuals do have some nice movements without the ugly rotor though.

Gotta be an auto as far as I'm concerned, although I wouldn't say no to an Emergency Mission!

Autos all the way for me.

I owned a couple of manual wind Russian Poljot watches a few years back as I thought they'd be a nice addition, but after a couple of days they just irritated me. And the spectre of overwinding would cause me to baby them even more than I do my autos!

Quartz just doesn't do it for me at all. Sure, I can't fault the technology behind the likes of the Emergency and the Airwolf, etc, but I don't just feel the passion for them that I do an automatic watch. I don't own a single quartz watch now... and probably never will again.

Auto/Manual/Quartz?

It really doesn't bother me.....I go for the function and styling of the watch regardless of what's running it.
Although to be honest, my next purchase, all being well, will be a Cosmo to balance out the SuperQuartz's I already own.

Well autos of course are more convenient than manuals. I admire the technology of SuperQuartz but wouldn't want to own one (though one of dearly beloved's is an SQ).

I'm not going to stand for all this bad mouthing of manuals though - let me change your mind...... :wink:

Manuals first, then autos, then quartz. I love the symbiotic relationship you have with a manual wind watch -- you need it as a reference, it needs you for "life".

@Roff - the manual-wind movement is undoubtedly a beautiful thing.... it's just that it's a hassle! :)

@ettsn - I like the symbiotic reference there! Very Zen! :wink: You can probably level that at auto's too..... although in a way they are closer to being parasitic, as they take their power from you without asking!! :lol: Jeez, I've got a whole bunch of parastic watches here! :shock: :lol:

Definitely prefer automatics.

I might entertain the thought of a manual wind for a dress watch.

Quartz only for occasions when I want something so cheap I don't mind breaking/losing it.

Mechanics. I'd almost say automatics, but then there are some rare beauties that are manual wind, so it has to be mechanics.
