It's real. I don't think the case back is a beat as the pics appear. The bonehead used a flash and obviously didn't bother to clean it up. But the chimney (polished ring between bezel and crystal) is clearly shown in one pic and it is pretty well beat up. That is my give-away everytime as to overall condition of a Breitling. NO WAY that watch can be fairly described as LNIB and NO WAY it was only owrn for a month. No.

To me the first set of pics was a combination of a dirty and beat up watch.
The back case clearly had lots of dust and/or sweat and skin print marks.
The chimney as pointed out by sharkman clearly showed signs of abuse.
The new close-ups show a watch in much better condition, so either it is a set of pics from a different watch or the owner had it cleaned and polished.
About half of the picks are clean, the other half are still the old filthy ones.
All of this would start ringing alarm bells for me and I would be staying away from this one unless the owner could provide me with clear and plausible explanations as well as convincing proof of ownership.

Cheers/wessa

New pics posted...

Yea I wrote him and he was real quick to respond with 4 new pix, 2MB each. Those are now numbers 2 through 5 in the acution. Looks a lot better. The guy was very personal in the email, lots of positive feedback I have no reason to think he is trying to pull anything over...unless he is just misinformed. Say he got the watch recently and was sold a bill of goods that it was just a few months old and now he is flipping it quickly and passing that info off as his own. Either way I have asked about papers, etc. Most likely nothing will happen...maybe a deal to be struck outside of ebay for less $$$. He is also currently selling a Tag FWTIW. I am not at all concerned that it is a hacked account or he does not have the watch, just need to get the full picture.

Thanks for all the help so far.

Look at it from another point of view — the strap.

I've owned the Diver II, and while it's an excellent rubber strap, it does tend to pick up minor scratches and scuffs quickly and easily. The strap pictured appears to be in nearly new condition — about like I'd expect it to look after a month of wearing. (Disregard the buckle creasing, that'll show up after strapping it on just a few times.)

I'm continually amazed by the numb-nuts out there who try to sell expensive watches with crap photography. All of my watches are pristine, but whenever I've accidentally left the flash on during photo sessions, they look AWFUL. Flash amplifies every particle of dust and dirt, fingerprints, human residue, etc. Micro-scratches that normally aren't visible to the naked eye look like major abuse under a flash.

Somebody liked it gone with BIN @ $1,700. Saves me from living in the garage. Anyone here by chance pick it up? If so congrats, I think it will be in very good shape after a few back and forth emails with the seller.

If anyone was interested in the rest of the stroy. No papers and seller was not sure if store was an AD, but it was a "dealer". Seemed totally legit, nice seller, just not a watch geek.

Auction has ended, so any comments aobut this one are academic really; however one thing that strikes me about the main picture is that it is taken with the watch face on the top of a wooden thing (table?). Who on here would even dare do such a thing, placing the glass on something like that?

I am always wary of Ebay auctions, especially so specialist watches; it may well be geniune but you never know.
