Hi Guys,

New here, but I will dive in....

I check local listings, since i find not a lot of action happens in my corner of the intra-nets...

I found the following post:
http://rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=213556

Described as a:
-Breitling Chronomat Evolution Chronograph with the "rare" red dial
-Included after market leather strap with the Hershey OEM rubber too.
-Missing box and papers (comes in travel/service case)

I've seen this individual post a lot and I believe him to be an honest seller, possibly a flipper or who knows...

I'm interested in the watch, but I feel the price is way too high. I checked out Antiquorum and found the same watch, with a linked bracelet in fantastic condition that ended at $2100. (And the red dial went for less than the white)

I don't want to insult the seller by severely low-balling him, so I figure I'd come to you guys first.

Any thoughts?

Don't see may with red faces, I have the steel and gold with the red face and love mine due to it being uncommon

Seems high to me. Prices for pre-owned Lings can vary, but a general rule of thumb is half of retail, if it is in good condition and has all original boxes and papers. The condition on this watch seems fine, but he doesn't have packaging, so it should actually sell for less. The problem is deciding "retail," since it only comes with aftermarket straps. If it were me, I would consider the straps of negligible value, since I prefer OEM straps and bracelets. Others might be willing to throw in a little extra for the straps, but probably not much. Although discontinued, the retail price on remaining stock of Evo heads is around $5200, which would make a reasonable pre-owned price around $2700, give or take. Again, that's with all original packaging. I can't really speak to the rarity factor, but the red dial sells for the same price when new as any other color, except for mother of pearl.

So, based on all of that, yeah, his price does seem high.

Just re-read the listing, and now I'm confused. He says the strap is aftermarket, but it's got a Breitling logo. Does he mean it's an OEM strap that he bought aftermarket, or is it a fake strap? OR...is he picturing the watch on something other than what's included in the sale? He says it's leather, but it's a croc pattern. Also, the deployant is obviously not OEM. If it's a genuine Breitling croc strap that's in brand new condition, then that definitely improves sale price. If it's a fake, I'd pass on the watch altogether. In fact, given all the questions I have, I would still pass. It could be just fine, but I don't like it when this many things don't add up.

The red dial is not rare per se - just very very unpopular. One AD I know has had one sitting there ever since my first visit.

$3300 is a bit high for an Evo on a leather strap, even a real Breitling croco. Still high even on a Pilot bracelet which is few hundred $$ more than a real OEM croco. But if it's a fake strap......forget about it. Looks to me like an OEM strap, but clearly an after-market deploy buckle.

So high is the correct response.

Just to clarify, I meant it improves overall price, as in, I would consider an Evo head on a Breitling croc strap to be worth more than an Evo head by itself. I still think the seller's price is high, even if selling it on croc.

Yea..unfortunatly the strap is a leather aftermarket...it does come with an oem rubber, but I dont think Id be able to get him down to what I would pay (a bit more than half what he is asking).

Oh well...thanks for all the info and confirming my thoughts on the "rare" dial.

What is a Hershey style strap? I see the seller says it's OEM, but I've never heard of it before.

The diver Pro I with BREIT on one side and LING on the other. It is similar to the old Hershey bar.

I'm afraid that is unrealistic regardless of the dial color or bracelet or strap for a mint Evo. He is a bit high, but half of what he isasking is very low.

eBay listing of ~$3000 seems like a lot for what he's selling.

If the watch had a more desirable dial, full boxes/papers, and a bracelet then ~$3000 would be acceptable.

The arabic dials, especially the oddly colored ones, don't seem to be as sought at as the ones with baton markers in blue, grey, black, white, etc..
