When I sent my BlackBird in to BUSA through my AD (under warranty) to have the main spring adjusted, it came back with a sizable and noticeable dent to the case of the watch, along with a few other dings. My AD agreed to send it back and picked up all the costs - they wound up replacing the winding lug and the chimney and I assume they replaced the case as well as the dent was completely gone. What should have been a relatively easy fix in 4-6 weeks took about 4 months and I would swear on my mother's eyes that none of that damage existed when I dropped it off. Additionally, Breitling could have easily argued that the repair wasn't covered under warranty due to neglect of the timepiece - so it was obvious that someone at BUSA damaged the piece.

My advice to anyone who reads this - and I don't care how well you know your dealer - either take pictures of your timepiece with your AD present when you are dropping it off for service, or have your AD fill out on his own letterhead and note any damage he sees to the watch before sending it to the manufacture for repair or service...both of you should sign it and date it. I don't know if these watches get dinged up at the AD or someone is being sloppy at BUSA, but from other stories that I read, it happens far too often.

Sorry that happened and good luck getting it resolved.

Thanks for your advice, You make a great point in taking pics of the watch right when you send it in. Breitling will not do anything about it, they claim the guy made a note that there was a scratch on the case, which they say the endlink is considered the case? not part of the bracelet? this watch didnt have a scratch on it and if it had i would of had them fix it while it was there. i contacted george at govbergs and he is going to see what he can do. Thanks again Steve

Sorry for your troubles.....i too an losing faith in Breitling and BUSA service centers. I sent back my 3 yr old B4B a year ago begause the date wheels stopped changing each night. First of all I was very disappointed that a watch that retails for nearly $9,000 would break within 3 yrs. Since it was out of warranty, i had to pay around $850 for "full service" Since getting the watch back the date has change everyday as expected. However, the date wheels (its the 6.75 with dual date) dont always line up properly. I suspect the date wheels were damaged prior or during the first service and the technician negelgted to relace/repair them. So....I have just mailed the watch back to BUSA (out anohter $50 for shipping) under the 1 year service warranty to have this addressed. I cant wait to hear their excuse this time around.

If its true that the guy made a note about the scratch, I would imagine that they didnt do it. It simple for them to brush it up, and I dont think they would intentionally send you back a watch that they knew they had scratched and tried to defraud you for a 5 minute job.

Just remove the link, get a dry green scotchbrite pad, and brush with the grain. If its nothing deep, it shouldnt be a problem removing it.

I hear what your saying, but i know for a fact the watch did not have a mark on it when i sent it to them. there isnt even a mark on the clasp. i would of had them fix it if it were there while they had. the watch was brand new with out a mark and i had to send it in for service because it wasnt running right and this is how it comes back. its not a matter of how much it will cost to fix, or how quick it can be fixed. it pisses me off they can say what ever they want and get away with it. Sorry to hear that.

I sent my watch in with lots of scratches and dings and it came back with less scratches and seeminly fewer dings. I was happy.
