That is awful!!!! I doubt UPS will even pay on the claim, never have I seen or heard anyone who collected on a claim when insurance was purchased. I sure hope I am wrong.

I had an issue with shipping paintings that were my Grandmothers from Florida to my home in Chicago. I purchased insurance. The box they came in was absolutely destroyed as if every truck and employee slammed into it for fun. The paintings had damage as well, especially the frames. I had shipped them from a UPS store and they were not cooperative to say the least. They wanted me to have the art appraised. Well, I was not going to do that as the cost was close to what I was looking for from the insurance, which they were not planning on paying anyway. Bottom line, they sold me the insurance when I shipped the paintings, and that was to cover any damage. I went back and forth with UPS corp. for months and months. Eventually I received my payment in check form... but it was not easy. I did have an overwhelming feeling of accomplishment!

There seems to be a few people that have had problems with UPS in the past. What about FedEx and others? Could these be better solutions going forward to decrease the chances of stuff like this happening again?

Doubt it. They should do criminal record checks before hiring crooked employees. Not saying that's what happened to my watch. But you'll never know. I would suspect an inside job since its a smaller package that says $4500 value on the box.

I had a similar experience. I purchased a piece of art that was sent in a flat plastic top loader packed really well , and stamped on it 22 times do not bend ,and sure enough the asshats bent it creased the artwork . I called UPS they sent the driver here to pick it up , and create a claim, month goes by I call them up. Where is my money for the damage you caused. I get the BULLSHI7 OF THE DECADE response. The art was damaged by the sender, and not them. The sender shipped my package and then bent it right down the middle? The art was 200$ ,and I ended up not even getting the artwork back from BROWN which is the COLOR OF SHI7 ,AND IS EXACTLY WHAT THERE SERVICE IS. UPS BLOWS!!!

Congrats on getting the bastards to pay!!!!! That must of took several phone calls ,and an act of congress.
