This a newbie question but when you have the date change problem, the quick date change doesnt work?

how can we spot this problem in your breitling?

From what I've read the best case scenario is the date doesn't change automatically and you can still change it manually, but it will "free wheel," for want of a better word.

Worst case scenario, the entire watch is screwed.

All you have to do to check it is start forwarding the time and see if it changes and at the appropriate time.

The damage is generally restricted to one or two teeth in the date change wheel so just because the date changes at midnight one day doesn't mean that you don't have a problem. The best way to check is to use the quick set date (outside of the danger period obviously) to cycle through a full month. As long as the date changes for every day and the date is centred in the window then you should be OK.

There may still be minor damage (a bent tooth) but it won't be sufficient to prevent the date from changing. That will show up as a difference in the time that the date changes on some dates.

the date changes everyday normally and centered, and the quick date also works, just wanted to get sure, in the quick date change i get a free wheel for 1 turn then it starts to get some resistance then flip day, then free wheel for 1 turn or 2 then flip and change again, hope this is normal for a quick date change

Without handling it it's tough to know whether it's acting normally, but that's not something that indicates a date change wheel problem.

If there is an issue (which I doubt if it's that consistent) then it would be in the keyless works not engaging with the date change mechanism properly.
