Hi all
Picking up on a thread from a member from Windsor Canada who ordered a new Breitling. His AD told him 6 weeks. I have a Super Avenger on order from my local AD in Langley BC, and it is now 3 months I have been waiting. I have reversed the credit card charges to put pressure on, but I am wondering if this is a problem with Breitling Canada. Any Canadian members had similar experiences? Any suggestions for furthur action? Surely 3 months is long enough. I'd appreciate any advice.

There's no such thing as Breitling Canada. The Canadian distributor is a company called Grigoros who also own the largest Canadian AD - La Swiss (La Suisse in QC).

The guy that runs Grigoros - Harry, uses it as his personal ego trip, but he has no idea how to run a customer facing business - and certainly no concept of customer service. La Swiss is encouraged to compete across stores so you end up with situations where a watch is shown as in stock but the store won't send it to another store because they claim that they are holding it for a customer. Additionally, La Swiss are encouraged to sell watches that Grigoros don't have in order to get the money.

In some ways the situation is worse for non La Swiss ADs as they are reliant on Grigoros for stock, and who do you think get's the pick of the watches?

Finally, Grigoros is outside of the Breitling family and Canada is a small market so not top of the list of priorities for Breitling.

Breitling are unlikely to do anything about it, Harry also has distribution rights for Greece and Breitling are making money so why change. The Canadian market isn't big enough for a company owned distributor and BUSA isn't a good idea because it adds additional exchange rate issues (which is part of why Zenith is so price uncompetitive in Canada relative to the US).

I appreciate the prompt reply Roff. I am now going to the AD and sort this out. My wife is a fraud investigator and loves this type of fight.
More later.

The problem with buying from the US is that you are then dealing with import duty as well as sales taxes.

Do you know Roff if he is Greek related? Judging by the name, he should be.

By the way, "Grigoros", in Greek, means the quick one.

I don't know if this is relevant to the canadian situation but I have been waiting 3 months for a Super Avenger( black dial, battons on ocean racer ) for 3 months as well as of this past Thursday. I am located in Canada as well. They tell me that they are still waiting for the watches and that they have 6 others waiting besides me. I am about ready to cancel the order. I am unsure where they get their watches from but it sounds like this might be a North American issue.

Forgot to mention, all 7 of the Super Avengers that AuthenticWatches is waiting for are black dials. They tell me they have received the white dials.

Oh buggers! I've been quasi-promised that from the AD.

And they darn well should. I was driving a block from my home yesterday and there stood a massive billboard with a Navitimer on it and my AD's name - turns out they make these desicions based on sales within a zip code and evidently I skewed their stats. Cracked me up.
