Hello. This is a fabulously informative and friendly forum, thank you to all. My dilemma, is it safe to spend $1200-$1400 on a used (2006) Breitling Steelfish? If the watch is in good condition it should run for many years still before it needs a servicing, yes? These are top-notch timepieces that command a good buck even for used models so their is still plenty of value to be had, no?

All of my watches were purchased used. In my opinion, that's the best way to go. Somewhat like cars, they lose value the moment you leave the store.

A 2006 Steelfish in good condition should probably run a few more years before requiring service. Even when it does, it will cost you roughly $300, which is still far less than you'll pay for a new one.

I agree 100% - tho their very few exceptions exceptions!

I feel that buying a new car or watch is a waste of money

The only thing I dont like about buying pre-owned is that you do not get the original box or papers - we atleast from Tourneau you don't.
However, Tourneau gives you a one year warranty - where they will repair your watch - that include's sending back to Breitling if it warrants it.

But you can not wear the box or the papers! :poke:

Best Regards,

Enezdez

You can probably buy a stelfish thats newer than 2006 for that money.

On a side note, if you are not familiar with the brand I suggest you stick to an authorized dealer or know exactly what you are getting into so you dont get swindled with a fake.

And a quality Steelfish fake takes an expert to distinguish. That is probably the best fake on the market from what I have seen.

Buying a genuine used Steelfish is fine. Rock solid movement which will last for years.

As others have said, there is a replica Steelfish which would probably fool most people working at an AD so you need to take care.

My advise is to only buy a Steelfish with matching warranty book and COSC. That way you're safe.

Feel free to post pics of the watch in the replica section and we'll take a look.
