Hello,

I just purchased a new Navitimer which gains about +9 seconds in 24 hours. I know mechanical watches are not perfect, but this seems a little high to me, especially with how Breitling promotes COSC certification and all. Any thoughts?

Also, please vote in my poll!

Thanks,
Dave

Assuming that it truly is a 'new' Navitimer then it needs to go back to the AD - the watch should be within COSC specifications of -4 - +6 seconds a day.

If it is just new to you rather than brand new then it may need a service, and if it has been sitting in a display case for any length of time then I have heard of that causeing problems with drying out the oil (but usually only for an extended period under hot lights or sun).

New watches do take a little while to 'settle' - a couple of weeks or so, but 9 seconds is excessive.

The watch is brand new and did not sit in a display case, came right from the Breitling factory.

I purchased a brand new, from the factory, navitimer on Dec. 13. Since that time it has consistently gained 2 seconds every day. I have been happy with that level of accuracy.

Nine seconds would be upsetting. However, It might not be enough to require a servicing at this point. I would wear the watch for about a year or a year and a half. Then send it in with the description of it being slow. You will get a service on the watch right before the warranty dries up.
