It is almost impossible to fake this on another watch, lines just will not align properly; a legit buyer needs about a minute to remove sticker and signatures; the crook will have to go and look for somebody else to cheat. works.

Wouldn't you still need to go to some lengths to prove that that is what you actually sent? What's to stop a scammer from simply claiming that the watch he received had no such label on it, and that it's a fake?

I normally ask my secretary or somebody else from my office to be present when I pack it. Could a crook still claim he has received an unopened package with a different watch inside: yes. Never happened to me, neither watches nor electronic components, and a crook would have a tough time with his claims as I have witnesses and pictures as proof, he would probably turn somewhere else for a softer target.

This story was horrible ..
so far, I have been fortunate enough to have dealt with honest buyers and wonderful sellers ...
I once lost a 150 dollar watch on ebay in a similar fashion and decided never ever to go that route again !!!
Ebay is so not right for selling pre-owned luxury watches ...

honestly, i think, know the person u r dealing it, google his name and address or email, talk to him on phone and better still, ask for feedback ..
thats precisely wat i have learnt being on these forums over the last year..
Still ! B very careful ..

Update - PayPal has refunded me.

I owe special thanks to someone from this board who made this happen in addition to my own persistance.

I appreciate the support from everyone. I hope we all learned something and ways to protect ourselves in the future when selling online.

Thank you.

Glad to hear it worked out. Are you able to elaborate on the reasons PayPal gave for their decision? I'm still trying to get a grasp on how they run their claims process.

Wow, that fantastic! I honestly didn't think there was much chance of a happy ending here. Congratulations and well done the BSource member who helped.

I love happy endings.

I'm sure you'll be more careful next time.

Excellent stuff, always great news when this kind of issue gets resolved! Definately serves as a good reminder about being careful with selling stuff online and the risks involved :)

That's great news,

I've been following this thread with interest and I'm so glad it's all turned out okay in the end - it would be interesting to know if the 'low-life' who received the watch ever gets prosecuted (I suppose we'll never know) :( .

That's fantastic!!! I'm also very interested in the process PayPal used to come to the truth and how willing they were to follow this process. PayPal seems to be a great tool but I've really been nervous based on some horror stories shared over the last year or so.

GREAT NEWS!!!

Sorry for bringing this one back to life, but it appears that everyone continues to overlook the best solution to prevent this type of fraud in the future. STOP USING PAYPAL. If you are a legitimate seller with plenty of feedback, and are selling to a legitimate buyer, then there should be no issue with the buyer wire transferring the funds, or sending a money order directly to you.

With a disclaimer on your auction stating your authentic timepiece is sold AS-IS, with pictures documenting the product, it appears that the sellers risks would be minimal.
