...dare I mention it here (!)

I've just received my first PANERAI, as can be seen from the photos below. It's big at 44mm, and just a little bit special as there are only 1000 of them. My Breitling AD here in Toulouse sells them and I've been tempted for a little while - the only problem is that you have to be patient, in view of the miniscule numbers they produce.

Very retro, but beautifully made -a real jewel. This one is Titanium with a leather strap (so acceldebt won't ever speak to me again - sorry!) and I think it rocks! (To say nothing of the pearwood box...)

Nice Panerai! I had a Panerai very shortly, and they are nice because of the great resale value and how every single one is limited edition in some way, but Panerai's only look good on straps, and im not a strap guy.. congrats though, they do look nice. One of the fun things apparently about being a Paneristi is that you spend all this time finding the perfect strap :?

Yes I've heard this - and I must admit there are as many really crap straps as beautiful ones to chose from - gives me something to do!

If anyone is as anal as me about boxes (it's all down to the presentation!) here's a couple more pics...

Sportback,

What could possibly be the attraction to that MONSTROSITY ! It's plain, it's drab, it's not polished, it is lacking in complications and it looks like a clock on the wall in a High School Gymnasium. What I can't understand is how a cool guy like you that likes Bentley's, Navitimers, Evo's and Porshe design watches actually sees anything attractive about that thing. I think I need to provide serious counseling.

Sportback,

If you are going to continue to buy watches every week like you have been, start buying some Cool watches like the Porsche design one you were looking at. Or a Super Avenger then you would have 2 Whole Lings. Why not get into the Zenith line. You like Black watches and those guys have the best combinations of Black and Gold, Black and Stainless and others. Check out this link below

There's only 1 thing to say, regarding that picture - FMIU...Really ugly...

Obviously I've got no taste - I'm not American after all - but that really goes beyond belief...

Ye Gods - that's even worse - you'll need a diploma just to be able to read the damn thing....

Sportback,

Yeah that's a great Zenith, get one of those and send us pictures of it. If I were you I'd dump that disgusting Panerai now and buy the Zenith.

I guess the beauty of simplicity is lost on you.
Not every watch needs to be loaded with more dials and text than a computer circa 1950.
