Hi, I'm looking at this 782 and would be grateful for opinions please. Does it look genuine?

Serial number points to 1946, but seller is adamant it's 1960s

Thanks

Thanks. I'm new to vintage watches. Does anything stand out with it as a concern regarding originality of parts, unsympathetic restoration or condition? I'm told the glass is most likely a replacement plexi-glass and that the dial is original, although it looks too bright to be original to me?

I'm leaning towards the dial being redone also. Look at the way the 8 overlays the sub register and none of the other numbers do that on this watch or any other original dial 782 I can find. Usually that's an indicator. It's listed on Chrono24 and Ebay but you might be interested to see what it sold for a couple of years ago.

Thanks, I had seen the previous sale!

On the main dial the 2 (in 12), 5 and 6 all look to have been badly touched up? Also, the style of the 7 doesn't look consistent with other 782 dials I've seen. Thoughts?

Reprint

‘Breitling’ on the dial is too cursive
They used the re-edition as script example

as promised, here's a 1946 ref. 782; you'll see the difference:
